Point I forgot to mention: starting your period before about age 12 may increase your risk for breast cancer. This is because many breast cancers are hormone-receptor positive, and the longer your body is exposed to hormones, the greater your risk. OP, when your DD is an adult, I would recommend telling her to mention to her provider that she started menses early. Her provider can help her decide when she should start breast cancer screening.
