To ask what the day after Mirena coil insertion is like?

I have an early evening appointment next week to get a mirena fitted, the day before I go to a wedding. It has stupidly only just occurred that this maybe wasn't a great plan, but if I cancel the appointment it's 8 weeks wait for another one.

Can anyone advise if I'm likely to have any side effects the next day?

I had cramps in the immediate aftermath, but was fine after a good sleep and some gin.

Gin you say? Well, that's sorted then Grin

I’ve had five Mirena coils and am now with my last one. I can honestly say that the day after insertion was the same as the day before insertion. After a few changes I’ve had a bit of cramping.

I also haven’t had a period from the age of 28-52. Bloody wonderful.

I was a bit crampy the next day and spotting, but went to work, attended some rather dry and tedious but vitally important training and managed a pub lunch.

I'd have been fine at a wedding.

I was cranky and sore and hugging hot water bottles, but already ill off work which didn't help. Take some painkillers with you just in case, maybe a stick on heat patch under your dress if you are sore.

I was crampy for a couple of hours afterwards. the nurse recommended solpadeine max but i didn't take them as it genuinely wasn't that bad. I am a really nervous patient. I dread smears and it was like that but no worse really. I took a few regular ibuprofen. Best thing I ever did for my own wellbeing and health. I used to get coldsores about every 3 or 4 months. I haven't had one for 3 years.

But crampy and needed pads for a bit but only light bleeding
