To expect neighbours builders to have knocked off by now

I'll start this by staying we do not get on with our neighbours.

For the last six weeks, our neighbours have been having work done on their house. We're not even directly attached to them, we're a couple of doors up. They have people working and banging on their conservatory and shitbag extension and it's really really loud

DD is 5 and she is knackered because they are there until 9pm at least every night banging and using loud tools. They also come on the weekend. I'm trying to be calm and understanding but WIBU to go round and ask them to finish earlier. Or am I being precious.

What council are you in?

bellabasset · 19/06/2018 20:09

Check your LA or environmental health. Some councils allow work weekdays 8am to 6pm and Saturdays 8 to 1pm. No work Sundays or BH.

9pm is excessive.

Every day for 6 freaking weeks? Confused That would drive me nuts.

Scoogle · 19/06/2018 20:13

Thanks all. I'd rather not say what council we are in. I mean I appreciate works need to be done, but on Friday night they were there until about half 10! it was pretty much dark. I'm trying to go down the grin and bear it route atm.

If its development which has gone through the planning application process, they may have had a condition imposed stating what work hours are acceptable.
Google your council name + simple search

Search on their address. Look for the application, look in the documents then there should be one called "decision notice" or similar. Assuming they got permission, there will be a list of legally enforceable conditions. Call your councils planning enforcement team if this is the case.

Call the council and complain. They will ask them to knock off at appropriate hours but do beware it will mean the work goes on for longer....

Our council rules are 5pm knock off time. 9pm is crazy
