Fed up of being chatted to, am I a cow?

I'm an extremely smiley and chatty person. I'm not a mean person. But I've had enough of men trying to talk to me when I'm out and about. Am I nasty for this?

I can name 3 incidents in the space of 1 week.

Sitting on my own in a food hall. A bloke walks up and says "Is this seat taken love?". I replied no, thinking he wanted it to sit elsewhere that was short of chairs. The bugger sat down and started asking me about myself. I ended up lying and said I was late for a hospital visit Blush As I left, one of the blokes sitting in a group of seats nearby said "moody cow".

I was blood enjoying my cake before that!

Incident 2, waiting for DH to finish in the loo whilst I sit alone at the table. Some man walks up and asks me if I've been stood up! I said "no, just waiting for someone".

His reply? "Oh right, can I have a chat with the both of you then? Wink" His face was quite the picture when DH walked out the toilet Grin

Walking by some roadworks today in London, with DS in the pram. "Oii Oii!". I turned, and three worker were waving at me. They burst into laughter when I turned my head hack and walked on.

I'm getting quite tired of this. It's gotten worse since becoming a Mum.

I told my grandmother and she said I'm being a moody cow Hmm

No you're not, it's fucking shit. These men aren't looking to make friends are they? They don't want to sit down and have a chat with another bloke do they? Makes me mad.

YouTheCat · 18/06/2018 20:36

You aren't being a moody cow.

MochaMocker · 18/06/2018 20:36

Blanche It's really wearing me down! When I was single and childless, I didn't mind so much.

But now I just want to eat cake in peace and walk down the road without confrontation or random men shouting profanities

That's disgusting. The weird thing is, I bet they would go mental if someone did that to their partner and child.

It's awful Mocha. Embarrassing to admit, but I was raised to take this sort of thing as a compliment. Only relatively recently did I see it for the disgusting misogyny it is. I've had men shout into my kids' prams, 'your mums a milf!', 'yep!', 'I would', all sorts. Who the fuck do they think they are.
Also, I would be quite proud of my daughter in a few years if she tells any man who approaches her on a night out with friends, to simply fuck off. These men are inviting themselves to try their chances at getting into women's knickers. They aren't being friendly. We aren't being cows....rant over!
