And to remember neCeSSary, it's one Coffee and two Sugars

ferrier · 18/06/2018 00:43

But that won't help with occasion.....

Wombat45 · 18/06/2018 00:59

I know how to spell Louise, but when I'm typing quickly it comes out as "Lousie" 90 per cent of the time! I think it's because my fingers are more accustomed to typing words ending in "ous" (eg fabulous), while "oui" is an unusual combination in English. The only way I can get it right is if I slow right down and think very carefully.

LadyMisty · 18/06/2018 01:07

Asthma used to get me, but I can spell that now.

LemonysSnicket · 18/06/2018 01:31

Restaurant is always wrong, until recently so was business (would write buisness) and wierd ( because you think I before e except that isn't the case with this one)

LemonysSnicket · 18/06/2018 01:31

@liz70 except in weird it isn't I before e lol

LemonysSnicket · 18/06/2018 01:32

Yes and privilege and receive ... seems my mistakes are common

Maginthemirror · 18/06/2018 01:47

I just write medical cursive and hope for the best.

A few others mentioned here.

Necessary; one Cap two Socks. Only way I remember it.

VetOnCall · 18/06/2018 02:02

phyrric victory to,

It's pyrrhic, and if I've read it correctly and you mean 'as well/also' then that 'to' should be 'too'. I'm not trying to be a dick - you did say about getting it right!

KittyHawke80 · 18/06/2018 02:20

Always remember that ‘separate’ is ‘a rat’ of a word. Thanks to Mr Gould, first form maths, for that one.
I had a secretary once who always wrote ‘lager’ when she meant ‘larger’ - made the firm look like a load of heavy drinkers. Took about six months to break her of that one.
I always struggle with ‘broccoli’. And ‘cappuccino’. Thank fuvk they don’t come up much.

SabineUndine · 18/06/2018 02:24

To get ‘separate’ right, think of disparate where you can hear the ’a’. Same technique for people who get stuck on ‘definite’: think of ‘finite’ and y cane hear the ‘i’.

happymummy12345 · 18/06/2018 02:25

None.

SabineUndine · 18/06/2018 02:26

Dammit! *you can

Babybearsporij · 18/06/2018 07:01

Mediterranean (I'm not convinced that's right!!)

mindutopia · 18/06/2018 07:33

Gonorrhoea.

I work in sexual health so it’s actually a word I have to spell not infrequently. It doesn’t matter how many years I’ve been doing this (10+ now), I still have to google it and copy and paste. If my dh ever saw my search history and didn’t know me better (he knows my work involves a lot of fairly interesting stuff, gonorrhoea being pretty tame, all things considered), he might have serious worries!

nowifi · 18/06/2018 07:39

wombat same with louise/ lousie!

halfgirlhalfturnip · 18/06/2018 07:44

Calendar

CoodleMoodle · 18/06/2018 07:45

Occasionally and manoeuvre.

UtterlyDesperate · 18/06/2018 07:48

I struggle with "accommodation" -always missing an m as two m s looks wrong!

Another hint for "necessary" - 1 collar plus 2 sleeves. Our English teacher at primary school was full of these - "oh, how embarrassing, to put two r s in harassing" erc

Shumpalumpa · 18/06/2018 07:56

Words ending with k, even if they are short.

I put a Z by mistake. I wonder if it's because K and Z look similar.

Tessliketrees · 18/06/2018 07:56

Exacerbate, which I just had to Google.

I can't even get it close enough for the spell check to recognise it despite typing it at least twice a week for the last 5 years.

Mumthedogsbeensick · 18/06/2018 07:57

Eczema and asthma

lynmilne65 · 18/06/2018 08:06
