to warn you all about 'Sammi Jordan' on Facebook!?

Posting for traffic.
Please check your Facebook account via group/individual search for this individual. Whoever 'Sammi Jordan' is they are asking mothers what the names of their children are and how old they are in multiple sites over a period of years stating false information in order to extract the names and ages of other children and accessing profiles of people via this too.

Please check any mummy forums you may be on and don't reply, block report etc

We all know how Facebook can fail to monitor for safety.

I believe this individual has been reported to the police and Facebook.

Let's keep our private lives private and our children safe.

Thanks everyone.

ok, so what are they doing that's illegal or worrisome? am I missing something? What can someone do with the names and ages of my children?

FASH84 · 17/06/2018 22:39

Have a good guess at your passwords or security questions for other sites, eg PayPal, online banking etc

SkaPunkPrincess · 17/06/2018 22:46

Surely people dont use easily accessible personal info like that as passwords? 🙄

slashlover · 17/06/2018 23:13

Seems very similar to this www.snopes.com/fact-check/mothers-day-facebook-warning/

Surely they could get the info from birth announcements in newspapers? Or people posting birthday party pictures without locking them?

Do you have a link to this?

TheMonkeyMummy · 18/06/2018 00:03

She's friends with people I went to school with (and living in my neck of the woods).
Thanks for the warning, have blocked

It's a bit late isn't it? People using FB have been posting about their lives, including their children, in minute detail ever since FB was created.

Are you crazy? Of course they do! And of course they use the same PIN for every card and wrote down passwords in a little book titled ‘PASSWORDS’.

There’s quite a few “Sammi Jordan”s...

LeahJack · 18/06/2018 01:33

This actually seems to be genuine if you go on to FB and search. She’s posted it in a couple of Mum’s groups I’m a member of.

anotherangel2 · 18/06/2018 01:36

You ‘believe this person has been reported to the police’ but you don’t know. If you have evidence or concerns then you should be reporting this to the police rather than putting it on MN.

clockworklime · 18/06/2018 06:30

It’s another bullshit story propagated on facebook by the well-meaning and gullible.

LeahJack · 18/06/2018 12:38

clock, this one genuinely isn’t. The person exists, they have asked the same question on literally tens of Mum’s groups and their claims about their child’s age doesn’t add up with their profile. They say their child is 4 but their profile says she was 3 in 2013. For once, this is actually genuine, I’ve checked it out and it is. Her thread on ‘Mum’s Private Advice’ has been locked and she has been asked to contact admin.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 18/06/2018 12:44

If someone I didn't know asked for this info I wouldn't reply. I imagine most people are the same. If you provided this to a complete stranger then that's your issue, not ours. Really you shouldn't be libelling someone on a public site

LeahJack · 18/06/2018 13:08

The OP doesn’t claim this person has done anything which isn’t already clearly visible on another public site. So it’s certainly not libel.

LeahJack · 18/06/2018 13:12

The problem is, if you go and have a look at the multiple threads this person has posted, a lot of people are responding.

My immediate suspicion regarding this is fraudulent tax credit claims.
