To think the take out delivery driver should deliver to my front door?

I live in a house converted into 5 flats, I order take out once a week. I always leave delivery instructions and I tend to use different delivery places depending on what I want to eat.

I always get a phone call telling me to come outside. Now I don’t want to have to go out onto the street and look for the delivery car because they can’t be bothered to drive up the drive and ring my buzzer. Aibu?

Have you pre paid? A lot of delivery drivers get robbed at blocks of flats so won't go up driveways etc any more.

ReservoirDogs · 16/06/2018 17:40

Also is there parkibg readily available? If not then I would go out

Butterflykissess · 16/06/2018 17:40

some delivery places wont deliver to flats. its actually pretty common.

I used to deliver for a big chain... id go to the building door but not up to a flat, it's a lot safer for the driver that way.

Istheworldcupoveryet · 16/06/2018 17:46

It’s a large converted house. Drive way is at the front of the building.

I’m not expecting them to come to my specific front door. But the front door of the house then yes I do.

Well it’s not around here as I’ve used loads of delivery companies and none have refused to deliver.

I’ve had a takeout delivered to a caravan site before now. The whole point of delivery for me is not having to leave the house. Yanbu. However I’m unaware of the dangers drivers face so maybe I’m being unreasonable

They mean they won't deliver to the door of flats Grin.
Going inside a building and up stairways etc increases the risk of being attacked and robbed.
So no I would go outside to the main door and collect it

But they didn’t say that though. They said they don’t deliver to flats.

My aibu is that I feel I shouldn’t have to leave the building, walk down the drive way and then onto the street to locate the delivery car.

I want them to deliver to the front door of my building - I never said my flat front door.

Can be very dangerous for them. Safety first.

Akire · 16/06/2018 18:10

I’ve had this problems with drivers. If I’ve paid for it in advanced I expect it to be delivered. Unless you live in notorious block of flats can’t really see that block always equal someone lurging to rob you. Do they think gangs of neighbours just sit on landing in vague hope that someone will ring up and order pizza?

TantricTwist · 16/06/2018 18:13

Well it's hardly very far is it walking down the driveway Confused
If the driver feels unsafe then thats prerogative and you should understand that and not moan and be entitled and huffy about it.

MrsEricBana · 16/06/2018 18:15

We used to live in New York and early evening the lifts were full of delivery guys going up and down to apartments. I don't think yabu and they should definitely come at least to your main door.

I live in a flat and agree it’s so annoying. All our local takeaways are moaning about Uber eats that have recently come to our area. Guess what they do that the local ones don’t?

Butterflykissess · 16/06/2018 18:23

i dont think yabu for whats its worth op.

Butterflykissess · 16/06/2018 18:25

i love uber eats.. no more waiting 1.5-2 hours for a delivery!
