magnet kitchens liverpool edge lane -stay away

recently had a kitchen fitted from liverpool edge lane magnet started well delivered on time ,old kitchen removed well ,then the kitchen fitter came asked where the plans where as he didnt have any with him but got on with the job anyway ,when he eventually finished there were a good few bad things ,glue everywhere ,some catches and a shelf missing ,badly fitted fan hood which almost fell off and worst of all the tops were all scratched to bits .the next day the so called electrician came for approx 45 minutes botched up the wiring and got off blaming our fuse board for being out dated and old even though it had just been fitted 3 months ago ,we got our own electrician out and he explained that the clown didnt have a clue what he was doing and had left it in a dangerous state and phoned magnet on our behalf to explain how they should fix the job which they did the next day .we paid for the gold package which is aparently the best service you can get ,they remove all the kitchen and any cookers ,etc you my have.they did eventually come after phoning and phoning ,they actually never turned up on three separate days three days during the whole process with no phone call to say they were not coming causing me to waste three days holiday from work . the kitchen was completed on time which was the only bonus .when we complained they offered to replace the tops or refund 240 pounds which amounted to a 4% refund for the total bill,we were not to happy and contacted the head office who never got back to us and when i questioned the amount of compensation at the shop they said i might have scratched the top myself and this was their only offer of repayment (even though i had photographs of their workmans tools, drill and radio being used on the tops and scratching them ).i took the 240 pounds as they were obviously not going to listen to my complaint.i would never recommend magnet as they give you a good promise of skilled workforce and smmoth transition where in effect they use subbies who just fit you in whilst doing other jobs for other people and dont speak to each other concerning your kitchen ,slack workmanship and terrible customer care .stay away!

Do you have photos of the shoddy work & damage?timeline of event
Have you escalated with magnet beyond the managers who fobbed you off

Would you consider Small claim court?

Good luck, pop back let us know the outcome

Hefzi · 17/06/2018 16:41

And on their Facebook page, if they have one - unfortunately, some companies seem only to pay attention when it gets to social media

HelenaDove · 17/06/2018 17:08

I think they have a habit of removing negative comments from their fb page (ive clicked on comments on there and there is nothing there) i guess they want to hang on to the lucrative social housing contract they have.

It sounds appalling OP But many social housing tenants wont be able to avoid them as they are the provider of choice for many HAs.

meercat23 · 17/06/2018 17:29

I don't know if it is still the case but when we used Magnet they used a wide range of subcontractors. The ones that did our kitchen were amazing. They did everything to a very high standard and improved on the original design for no extra cost

It probably comes down to luck as to how good the contractors are but they should be listening to your complaints.

Yogagirl123 · 17/06/2018 17:35

At the risk of sounding nosy did you buy the kitchen on credit? If so the finance company may well act as an intermediary to help sort out your complaint. If not, does your home insurance cover you for legal advice?

Good luck OP, it must be very disappointing for you.

I used Resolver after I had an issue with Vodaphone that I had no luck resolving for over a year. One contact through this site I was sorted within 3 days. I stumbled across the site purely by chance but I will use it for any future issues I have.....

That’s a useful link to resolver scotsrule

Ramona75 · 20/06/2018 10:32

Oh dear, I hope you get it sorted:-( Nothing worse than a scratched worktop, especially if they fitted it that way!

UtterlyDesperate · 20/06/2018 11:42

Resolver is really easy to use too - worth looking at for anyone needing help with things like this

CrustyCob · 20/06/2018 11:51

Thanks for the heads up re Magnet Edge Lane. We were about to give them a call, as we've a newly built kitchen extension needs totally fitting out. Will give them a swerve.
Really so sorry about what has happened.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/06/2018 12:16

If that was the best service I shudder to see the worse.
I agree about going to social media. There's a good chance they might listen if they're getting made a cunt out of.

Also a bit or rather more sense and thought
They'd be a bunch of clowns

JaxJones66 · 05/11/2018 19:26

Thank you for highlighting the issues you encountered via Magnet - I visited them today and was so close to choosing them as my kitchen supplier, the sales guy was slick, no nonsense, I fell for the no hard sell approachable style he offered - but thought I'd do some extra research first - this negative review was the first I read so didn't need to continue delving - consider them swerved, been bitten too many times by poor workmanship and false promises, being ignored etc. Thanks again for bringing your experience to our attention and saving others from experiencing the same fate.
