AIBU staying in a facebook group?

I have had a quick name change!

I'm a member of a large facebook group for natural parents who are also science aware. This group has been a fantastic resource and support network but its all gone wrong. The people running the page all have their own issues and are ganging up on other members for what seems like no reason.

I have thought long and hard about leaving the group because it seems like playground bullying but i just cant seem to do it.

They are great when you need your hand holding and will help you with any problem you could think of. They have a fantastic support network of Nutella addicts and people with difficulties like ADHD and depression I'm not sure there there is a better community.

BUT posting in it can be like stepping onto a nest of vipers. People having mental health problems can be kicked out for no good reason OR supported with people being sent round to check on them or taxis being called and paid for by the group when fleeing a husband. It just depends if you are in with the right crowd or not.

There are many LGBTQ members and there are a lot who are in relationships or who have experimented with eachother and this is causing tension on the group.

I cant seem to leave but i can't seem to stay and I don't even know these people in real life.

Run run run for the hills OP.

TornFromTheInside · 13/06/2018 21:18

Nutella is the word, spread the word!

OkMaybeNot · 13/06/2018 21:19

I'm trying to imagine what a Nutella-related initiation ritual would look like.

And now I just want some on toast.

Natural parents? Nutella addicts? Science aware? What does this all mean? Why stay with a community which is unkind, unreliable and inconsistent? There are better places out there to get help, support and friendship from!

If they are Science Aware, they really should understand the dangers of Nutella Parenting.

nods knowingly

This is like a Mumsnet thread as imagined by Charlie Brooker.

Nutemma · 13/06/2018 21:37

When I saw this topic I knew it would be this group.

Years ago a large proportion of the posts were discussing science topics, by people who were broadly interested in attachment type parenting, with some chatty posts too.

Now it is a lot of Drama (and no science) and the most prolific members massively overshare and have quite complicated lives. Given the group is over 1000 people, members are posting blow by blow accounts of really intimate things, like leaving their spouse (in real time), their sex life, social services input, severe mental health problems. It's great that people feel supported by online friends, but it's all so public with your real name and photo, that I wonder why they don't find a more private/ anonymous forum for these discussions.

One poster was reported to social services regarding her children, I didn't see what she had posted on the group but another member was concerned and informed SS who were concerned enough to assess. Many were appalled at the breach, but really why would you post something like that in a group of 1000 people. Some may be social workers themselves and feel an obligation to report.

I haven't left the group because I find it oddly fascinating. I think I will leave soon though as it's not healthy to be gawping at other's problems. You should leave too OP.

Nutella contains Milk Powder!!!!

Milk. Powder. Where do I even begin with this.

To manufacture this weird powder, essentially all the water from pasteurised liquid milk is removed. What is left is then referred to as the milk solids (you may also see this on the ingredients list of processed foods). One of the main reasons it exists is due to its long shelf life because of its lack of moisture, which also means it doesn’t need to be refrigerated. I find it very strange lol.

Pasteurised milk has very high levels of cow puss, which is produced as a reaction to infections. These are the same cells that are present in WHITE HEAD SPOTS/ZITS. Not healthy OR APPETISING.

The dairy industry makes 11 billion dollars worldwide every year on ONLY MILK … hmmm. Makes you wonder why it is so heavily pushed as a “fundamental part of a healthy lifestyle”.

There are WAY more reasons to NOT ingest cows milk. Again, I encourage you to do your own research. Don’t just accept what I’m saying!

Annnnnnyways, I hope this switched some light bulbs on inside ya heads and I really do hope you understand the HUGE responsibility we as consumers have to support the RIGHT things for our health, for animals health and for mother earths health.

Have a great day guys!!!

Nutemma is your name Nutella-related?

Skiiltan · 13/06/2018 21:40

I used to be a member back when it first started, it was a refreshing change to HEMP et al.

Hmmm. I didn't think hemp (Cannabis sativa) contained enough tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to make people psychotic. Seems to have worked on this lot, though.

Seriously, can any of these former/current cult members write using words? And what the hell has Nutella® got to do with anything?

CaitlynsCat · 13/06/2018 21:42

$11 BILLION dollars. On MILK.

That's as much as the global market for crystal meth! Makes you wonder why they haven't made a Breaking Bad about the horrors of dairy! Except no need to wonder because THERE'S A GLOBAL BOVINE CONSPIRACY.

ReginaOcarina · 13/06/2018 21:44

This has got to be one of the most surreal threads I've ever read on here. Have they outed you to the rest of the cult OP?

Idontevencareanymore · 13/06/2018 21:45

Hemp was a hard core group that you had to answer an actual questionnaire to get into. Like an interview. Madness.
It was like you were the ultimate parent to get in.

Now that probably was a cult.

OkMaybeNot · 13/06/2018 21:46

Yes, OP, are they going for you in the group? Do they know it's you?

are you having your nutella confiscated?

BringMeTea · 13/06/2018 21:48

I kinda dig this thread. Batshit.

WineAndTiramisu · 13/06/2018 21:50

I'm so confused... Is it because I don't like Nutella?
