Creepy (but not too creepy) movies ?

Hello. My kids love films or TV programmes that are a little scary so I'm just looking for some suggestions for kids mid teens ? Something along the lines of 'Stranger Things' or IT would be great ! What do you think ?

Orphan

The Conjuring is pretty good. Scary- but no rude bits or gore.

Have you heard of Common Sense media btw? Individual parent-oriented reviews for most films. It's fairly reliable.

The Omen, Poltergeist (the originals of both, not remakes).

The Shining (there's one bit of nudity though).

The Fog (the original).

Hitchcock things, like The Birds.

Jaws.

Mine all seem to be really old, but they are classics.

Sixth Sense?

Blair Witch

tillytoodles1 · 12/06/2018 20:44

Not The Woman in Black, it terrified me, especially the bit where she's over his bed!

The fourth kind

liz70 · 12/06/2018 21:03

Are any of these worth watching myself? I love a good chiller!

Have seen (of that list):

"The Omen"
"Poltergeist"
"The Birds"
"Babadook"
"Creep" (too gory for mid teens IMO)
"Sixth Sense"
"Beetlejuice" (a comedy, not scary, surely? Confused)

Have read "WIB" but not seen the film.

Have "Mama" on DVD not watched it yet.

"Mother" was good.

More suggestions welcome!

Domino20 · 12/06/2018 21:05

Ooooo the Fourth Kind is excellent! There was a mini series on (I believe) BBC recently called 'True horror' the episode set in the Brecon Beacons was super spooky.

daffodillament · 12/06/2018 21:08

Ahh brilliant thankyou. I will check out the Common sense website too !
Fourth Kind sound particularly interesting as we're not far from there ! Grin Woooooo

I'm too much of a wuss to watch half of these!

I'd recommend the quiet place
Also Jeepers Creepers, the 1st and 2nd one

Meant to be watching it tomorrow

It Follows

lljkk · 12/06/2018 21:12

Get Out is terrific. I'd let my 13yo watch it.

pandorawithtreaclecolouredhair · 13/06/2018 08:40

Stephen King's "The Mist" (on Netflix)?
