To be pissed of with pcworld about repair and that one of their staff lied to us

Bought a samsung tablet from pcworld in December. Just over 3 weeks ago it stopped working so took it back to the store. They said they would have to send it back to samsung and it would be about 3 weeks which I thought was fair enough. Rang last week and was told it was on it's way back to the store.

Rang today and guess what, whoever I spoke to last week lied! It's still with samsung and there is no timeline for when we'll get it back!

I am pissed off that someone lied to me last week and that we have no idea when we will get this tablet back, surely it is pcworlds responsibility to get it back to us in a reasonable time as our contract is with them not samsung

It's probable that someone made a mistake when they spoke to you last week, rather than lying about something that's clearly disprovable.

They need to think about replacing the tablet if there's no sign of it being repaired. A month is long enough to wait.

A friend had issues with a Samsung repair, where they kept saying it had been dispatched when it hadn’t. So it may not be the PC World person who got it wrong.

Tbf, there’s not a huge amount PC Workd can do to get it back if it hadn’t been sent, but I would expect them to be apologetic and chasing it up.

Initial mistake was buying anything from PC World or Curry's in the first place, but too late. I'm afraid this is pretty much par for the course with these guys. They are abysmal and lie through their teeth (personal experience, which is why I won't use them). I fear you just have to wait it out.

Advice from both Shatners Wig and his bassoon. Aren’t you lucky, OP Grin

ShatnersWig · 12/06/2018 12:27

Not the first time the two Shatners have appeared on the same thread! Or are we really one Shatner with two different logins? Is one of us even the REAL Shatner?!!

I know, we should have learnt our lesson when we bought a dishwasher from them, 3 weeks and 3 failed deliveries later we finally got it.

Hate to say but I too could have written Shatnerswig's post.😡

We had awful issues with a Sony laptop years ago. Gave up in the end and the bloody thing cost £899.

I almost bought a fridge at Curry's a few months ago.
After the first person I spoke to said he was busy with someone else and one of his colleagues would help ( fair enough), I stood by the desk for 20 minutes watching his colleagues play with their phones, then left a polite note saying I was fed up with waiting and had gone to Argos instead.
Sounds like I had a lucky escape!

We've had shocking service from them when my laptop went in for repair. They made the most almighty cockup and wiped all my data (and then wiped the backup copy I'd given them to restore it all). Then managed to lose my laptop case, the charger and all the service notes. I was incancescent with rage. Total incompetence from beginning to end.

I shall never set foot in there ever again.

ShatnersWig · 12/06/2018 15:12

If anyone wants to see how bad their customer service is, have a look at the Twitter feed of @TeamKnowHow which is the Curry's/PC World "expert service partner". I don't know how they keep up with it all. The only reason I think they are still in business is because there is so little high street/mall competition.

After my nightmare with them, I will only use AO.com if ordering something or John Lewis if buying in store now. No problems with either yet!

HildaZelda · 12/06/2018 15:21

They have form for lying. They were caught out just last week on C4's 'Supershoppers' lying to customers about cables and trying to flog them the most expensive one.

KittyHawke80 · 12/06/2018 18:28

Went into Curry’s to buy an iPad at Christmas. Had vouchers. Stressed-looking woman marching up and down with a tablet, asking what I was after, and putting me in a queue. Doubtless some Curry’s focus group told them this was the most efficient way to do these things. Waited for nearly an hour, while watching a load of employees busying themselves doing sweet FA. Went to Argos, where I didn’t have vouchers, because it was worth it to me to not have to spend another minute in that craphole.

GettingBackToMe · 12/06/2018 18:36

I went to buy a laptop in PC world a couple of weeks ago and was told barefaced lies by the salesman to get me to buy their software bundle - possibly my flustered middle age technophobe look fooled him into thinking I was more generally stupid? I won’t go in there again.
