DD (14)has not tidied floor robe for 3 weeks. Finally doing it now as lost school skirt she wanted to wear. Angry

Handed me PE kit, as I had just finished the last dark wash and put towels on.

Transpires ( I knew) that she has PE am tomorrow. I said 'you will have to take it out of washing basket and wear it with lots of deodorant then.'

I cannot tumble the PE kit, another rant about silly school stuff, and the towels take nearly 2 hrs to wash.

DD said I will get a C1 then. I said 'well at least you will remember to hand in PE Kit to me or tidy floor robe up to find it!'

DD not impressed that I am not going to wash it. I also have dinner to prepare.

DS to take to scouts. Wine

Have you told her a million times before that she needs to give you her washing? Has she done her washing herself before?

If not then you could argue that she didn't think that it would be a problem to wash tonight.

I would show her how to put it on a quick wash and get her to hang it over a radiator and hope for the best. It'll take seconds. Not going to make you not be able to cook tea...

I would get her to put it on a quick wash as soon as the machine is free and I would hang it up in a way to give it the best chance of drying overnight. If she couldn’t remember how, I’d show her again. She’s 14, not 18, and I wouldn’t let her go to school in a smelly PE kit.

I really do think, that as a parent, you still need to check things like school uniforms & PE kits being put in the wash on a Friday night.

I also wouldn’t allow a floordrobe for three weeks. I guess I’m both a control freak & a softie 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄🤣

Mine has a floordrobe, I completely get this and you are very not U. Mine knows how to work the washing machine and also now knows not to make knobby demands at the 11th hour due to similar responses. Hard lesson to learn at that age, I don't get too pissed off as I was the same!
