Sorry but I need to vent...

For background I'm noticeably pregnant, 25+6

So today I went out on my lunch break. I usually drive but decided to walk to the Lidl by work.

Walked, got my stuff but no bag and was on my way back to work when I saw this pigeon on the pavement. Thought it'd broken its wing and was struggling to wall/fly.

I couldn't just leave him so I called the RSPCA, called my colleague to bring something out (as I'm around the corner from work) so I could carry him to the car and then the vet.

As I'm waiting the poor sod tries frantically to move and ends up in the gutter next to the bike lane on a main road. I can't pick him up as I have nothing to handle him with and I'm pregnant so germs and such. A couple of guys ride past, obviously scallys and as they did so I politely asked 'please don't hit the bird.'

I was met with a load of profanities, the first one spat in my face and the second proceeded to throw beer all over me and the poor bird.

Who on earth does that?!! In what world is that okay to do?

A total cunt. Sadly nothing surprises me.

Is the bird okay? What happened? Thank you so much for trying to do something kind and respectful for another living being in need. So many people just ignore animals who are hurt or in distress if they’re of a species they deem to be a ‘pest’ or ‘vermin’. I feel that pigeon was very lucky to have had you walk by and not someone less caring.

Fucking beer over a pigeon and a person. Wankers.

e1y1 · 11/06/2018 15:43

Yes there is some assholes about. No useful advice though Flowers

LiitleAce · 11/06/2018 15:49

@WalkingOnAFlashlightBeam

Unfortunately the pigeon didn't make it but at least it wasn't squashed and wasn't alone when he went.

@e1y1 no advice required I just need to vent sorry

That’s unbelievable!

Myheartbelongsto · 11/06/2018 15:59

Did this really happen?

Bahhhhhumbug · 11/06/2018 16:09

I too find this hard to believe - spat in your face and hurled obscenities and poured beer over you and the bird all whilst riding a bike and in broad daylight?

The80sweregreat · 11/06/2018 16:14

Your so kind and they are A holes!
Good luck with the new baby - will have s lovely caring mum by the sounds. Sorry this happened to you though.

FASH84 · 11/06/2018 16:16

Do you live in Tilbury OP?

LiitleAce · 11/06/2018 21:08

Yes it actually really happened, hence why I'm ranting about it.

That’s disgusting. I hope you are okay after that. You were doing a good deed. Those thugs are scum.

witchofzog · 11/06/2018 21:39

Why are people so nasty on here. Why would someone bother to make this up?

I hope you are ok op Flowers

LiitleAce · 11/06/2018 22:02

@Justanotherlurker

Maybe you should've stayed as Just a lurker.

A pigeon is still a life, if you saw a cat or a dog would you have just left it?! Each to their own but I'm not that type of person.

Nor am I the kind to make shit up.

EastMidsMummy · 11/06/2018 22:06

at least it wasn't alone when it died

I’m sure the pigeon was hugely comforted by this.

RebelRogue · 11/06/2018 22:28

So they were riding bikes with beer in their hands and then just stopped to hurls abuse at you and throw beer all over you and the pigeon?

LiitleAce · 11/06/2018 23:00

Seriously don't know why I bother with this site.

Wheresthebeach · 12/06/2018 08:02

Picture or it never happened😀

ShovingLeopard · 12/06/2018 08:09

Ignore the horrors with no empathy, OP. Thanks for trying to help the bird. I'm really sorry you were subjected to treatment like that. I can well believe that some people are capable of being gratuitously abusive and nasty like this, though it's not the norm. It's a problem with them, not you.

EastMidsMummy I was going to write something but your comment can not be matched. Smile
