To ask if there's a suncream that won't make my face break out in spots?

Mumofaskinnyone · 09/06/2018 22:04

As in the title really.
I know I need to use suncream on my face, but I'm so sick of spending summer looking like a spotty teenager with nasty greasy skin because of suncream.
I'm 37 and I am so done with spots now. I've never got rid of spots completely since being a teenager but it's so much worse when I wear suncream Sad
I've tried so many that claim to be oil free and non greasy but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I have the added complication that I seem to have sensitive eyes so often my eyes are red and streaming within about 10mins of putting the cream on.
Can anyone recommend a cream that might not make me a spotty mess?
Hopeful thanks in advance to anyone who might have a miracle solution...

Ultrasun - honestly

UnaOfStormhold · 09/06/2018 22:22

Paula's choice have a range which seems perfect for my skin (early 40s but prone to spots) - they have a factor 50 moisturiser which I have found is nice and light. Their BHA exfoliant seems to help to tighten pores too. Can't comment on the sensitivity issue but may be worth a try.

I use an SFP50 one from Estée Lauder. It’s pricey but is the only thing I haven’t had a reaction to. It’s this one.

Child’s farm

Mumofaskinnyone · 09/06/2018 22:28

Hmm, Estee Lauder is not cheap. I wonder if I might be able to get a sample from somewhere, I'm loath to pay £30 for a tiny tube if it'll just make me Spotty like all the others.

I have had bad skin for about 14 years, I always use this one with no adverse effects as yet. It’s sensitive so hopefully would be okay for you as well :)

DollyDayScream · 09/06/2018 22:33

Etude House

Mumofaskinnyone · 09/06/2018 22:41

friendsdontlie thanks but I've tried piz buin and it made me just as spotty as the others.

To clarify, the spots are like zits, sore angry red ones that turn into whiteheads. It's lile my pores are being totally clogged even if I buy ones labelled "non-comodogenic".

La Roche posey, pricey but my skin has been fine since using it and I know exactly the spots you mean, been there.

hungryhippie · 09/06/2018 22:45

i use the one from green people. its mineral based and not at all greasy.

IAmALamp · 09/06/2018 22:46

Biore.

RailReplacementBusService · 09/06/2018 22:46

I’m using P20 I bought for the kids. I used to get eye stinging and spots from other sunscreen but none from this. It is meant to last all day.

mumoftwo1975 · 09/06/2018 22:51

I love the cheap and cheerful daily antiwrinkle cream from Aldi. About £1.50 ish a pot SPF 20. Use it on my face & upper chest area daily.

Sitranced · 09/06/2018 22:53

Etude House or biore watery essence

WolfMcWolferson · 09/06/2018 22:54

Also had this, thought Body Shop one has made me regress to being 13!

I've now got this, only £4.50 and no spots finally - worth a try.

WolfMcWolferson · 09/06/2018 22:55

Argh that's not it. It's the face one that looks very similar.

justilou1 · 10/06/2018 02:06

I have rosacea and can recommend the biotech watery one, and any of the Korean gel formulas. I have found the physical sunscreens actually block my pores and irritate more than the chemical suncreams. I love Make P:Rem Blue Ray Sun Gel. Dumb name, but it’s awesome, I promise. Plus I live in Australia and it gets a workout, I promise!!! It is very light, like a moisturiser, but not at all greasy. It doesn’t make foundation go weird and is supposed to also help keep your skin slightly cooler as well. (I try and stay out of direct sunlight as much as possible and wear a hat whenever I can, so I keep this to face and chest, but it has caused no problems.) I buy it on amazon. It is expensive here in aus.

Puffycat · 10/06/2018 02:07

P20

LapsedHumanist · 10/06/2018 02:11

Cools Make Up Setting Spray or Toujours Soleil Mist + Protect, both SPF 30 I think.

Both good for using over make-up and for topping up regularly during the day.

LapsedHumanist · 10/06/2018 02:12

Sorry Coola rather than Cools

LuMarie · 10/06/2018 02:26

How are you with foundation? Do you wear it and does it irritate your skin?

I ask because I wear foundation with a high SPF, even in super hot sun where the rest of my pale Irish heritage skin needs at least factor 30 for ten minutes on the sun, foundation protects my face.

I do use Estee Lauder though, so it's waterproof and doesn't sweat off or wear off during the day. It's pricy but it lasts me absolutely ages.

BeginningToWobble · 10/06/2018 05:52

I use www.vichy.co.uk/ideal-soleil-mattifying-face-dry-touch-spf-50

BalloonFlowers · 10/06/2018 06:21

Simple spf 30 is half price in Superdrug at the moment. Might be worth a go?
Otherwise, Korean gel types (Boris watery essence) or body shop (linked above) is my go to.
