The previous thread ended. Anyone else keen to continue to discuss?

Today RVK loves (she of almost monthly holidays and comp’ed home stuff) declared a paid partnership with Fat Face. All good.

Someone comments ‘You are terrible, you’ve made me order the dress and loads of other stuff’. RVK replies ‘oops sorry smiley face’

I had the disingenuous ‘Oops sorry about that’. She’s a paid influencer, it’s her job to make you buy things.

Just own what you are, stop pretending clogging stuff on instagram is some of public service

Lets build each other up, not tear each other down, and lets start one post at a time.

LaminLodge · 11/06/2018 17:41

Those are wise words The. Jesus asked us to love our neighbour. We must bring this to the thread as in real life. My pastor says love can be a simple kind word shared happily as you pass each other like ships. What loving your neighbour is not is what my deadbeat ex did. [anger] Please don't copy him and finger next door's nineteen year old Sad

its5oclocksomewhere · 11/06/2018 18:02

@LaminLodge We're not interested in your deadbeat ex here. Take that discussion somewhere else and stop derailing the discussion.

LaminLodge · 11/06/2018 18:09

@its5oclocksomewhere what the??? Hmm I mentioned my deadbeat ex once here. What would you like me to rail on with Miss Bossy Pants?

its5oclocksomewhere · 11/06/2018 18:16

Ok once on this thread maybe but there was plenty about it towards the end of the previous one.

LaminLodge · 11/06/2018 18:23

@its5oclock eh?! You tick me off about what I did on a previous thread when you were not on it? 😂 Oh my days!!! Ah, I think maybe you were on there with one of @wearelocal's personas, hmm.

its5oclocksomewhere · 11/06/2018 18:30

Oh I was on it.

LaminLodge · 11/06/2018 18:44

Yes as “a persona” 🤔🤫🙄

I have a question - if I swipe up and it puts a link so the insta person gets a "small" amount for that and future purchases, what happens if I swipe up to the same retailer from another insta feed? Who gets the commission??

See from the daily mail MP has been paid to pretend to be pregnant to see if anyone would give her a seat on a train. Confused

WipsGlitter · 09/07/2018 17:53

I see MOD and FOD have been tagged / regrammed by Scott Williams Villas and Boden but no #ad #spon #gifted etc on their own feeds.

Cuddlecouch · 09/07/2018 19:04

The transparency is zero from some accounts. But the increasingly asked 'can anyone recommend....' seems to be very popular now. As soon as that it's said try seem to be inundated with free stuff. It's embarrassing. Wee slice has been in the cadge/ hawking for free stuff for her dd birthday by saying ' can anyone help me with dds birthday list..' and last week lil and life complained all month about fling food for her dds party and then took a massive delivery of free asda party food! Using the kids certainly seems to be paying off.

I would actually be embarrassed if I turned up to my kids party with trays of free food i'd hawked around for. Some occasions should not be sold off like that. And the references to ad are few and far between. Don't pretend you've been 'gifted' something when you've practically begged for weeks! These people can all afford their own stuff too which makes it worse.

WipsGlitter · 09/07/2018 19:15

Yes! I saw someone asking for accommodation recommendations for some festival that was obviously a begging message!

Powergower · 09/07/2018 19:24

Yes I've seen so many accounts saying can anyone recommend.... And lo and behold a few weeks later they are randomly 'gifted the exact item they asked for.

I've also noticed how many events are targeted at new mums. That is always a bit depressing because it's the one time when your focus should be on your health and that of your baby. Last week one mum was stuck in a car park with a newborn strapped to her almost in tears. All for what? A free event ticket to go scoff some food and sell tat to your followers?! It's cheap and targets the vulnerable. Newborns are not a cash cow and selling them off like this is really sad.

peneleope82 · 09/07/2018 19:25

To be fair to MOD and FOD, they are ‘insta celebrities’ now (apologies for the phrasing, can’t think of what else to call it!), so I imagine the companies are using them for promotion because they’ve recognized their products in MOD/FOD’s feeds, not because they’ve given them freebies.

Tizzlebizzle · 21/08/2018 00:18

Did anyone see FOD's stories today? He posted a video of his daughter doing a dance routine with her friend from holiday both in bikinis. Now I don't agree with it for his own children to be honest but I think it is completely out of order and a potential safeguarding risk for her new-found friend's child.

AgentJohnson · 21/08/2018 03:54

I can imagine my eleven year falling for this shit but I suspect many on this thread are grown arse women and do not have the excuse of being a preteen to explain their gullibility. Maybe it’s a generational thing but come on people, looking to ‘internet celebrities’ for affirmation is never going to end well. These internet celebs are the different side of the same coin as their followers.

So rather than using up all this energy finger pointing at these people supposedly praying on your vulnerabilities, how about acknowledging your vulnerabilities and working on the areas that make you susceptible to this kind of bullshit.
