The previous thread ended. Anyone else keen to continue to discuss?

Today RVK loves (she of almost monthly holidays and comp’ed home stuff) declared a paid partnership with Fat Face. All good.

Someone comments ‘You are terrible, you’ve made me order the dress and loads of other stuff’. RVK replies ‘oops sorry smiley face’

I had the disingenuous ‘Oops sorry about that’. She’s a paid influencer, it’s her job to make you buy things.

Just own what you are, stop pretending clogging stuff on instagram is some of public service

OP posts:

CadyHeron. Your points are confusing and contradictory.

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 18:52

Wearelocal- in what way? Which bit?

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 18:56

CadyHeron in every way. Every bit.

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 19:00

Sorry,if this is the bit you meant, didn't mean to be confusing. I was referring to the OP saying that everything was declared as a holiday but they still weren't happy.

Someone else then brought up The Meldrums latest Youtube video. So who are you referring to when you say "the have declared that it's a paid for holiday". You're conflating 2 threads of discussion here.

Jammycustard · 09/06/2018 19:08

RVK is all very nice and pastel, but her photo feed is like that scene from scooby doo when they run past the same door/flower pot/suit if armour. The pictures are basically pink flowers/pastel front door/bathroom unit/someone in a striped top.

savingin2018welltryingto · 09/06/2018 19:08

Rebecca does not post pictures of children or infact anyone else, she is also transparent with adverts and is a thoroughly nice and helpful woman. This is uncalled for.

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 19:08

No CadyHeron every point. You criticise other posts but never say anything constructive yourself. Why not mention an instagrammer who is doing a great job in your view, or give an example of transparent advertising or why using kids in feeds is a good idea. You just chip away at the thread, often misquoting or using comments out of context.

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 19:09

....like saving in 2018 did ^^

its5oclocksomewhere · 09/06/2018 19:12

@CadyHeron You're directing something I asked you back to Wearelocal. If you want to set the record straight with what's been said, reference posts and posters properly. I'll ask you again since this is what you said:

I was referring to the OP saying that everything was declared as a holiday but they still weren't happy.

Who are you referring to here? The OP in this thread (who is checkedcloth) was talking about RVK declaring Fat Face properly. The Meldrums' holiday is suspected to be not properly declared. So what are you talking about when you say OP said everything was declared as a holiday.

its5oclocksomewhere · 09/06/2018 19:14

Rebecca does not post pictures of children

Well she doesn't have any.

savingin2018welltryingto · 09/06/2018 19:18

Yet she's the subject of a thread about 'instamums'...

its5oclocksomewhere · 09/06/2018 19:24

Yet she's the subject of a thread about 'instamums'...

Well I think we established that the OP might have titled the thread differently (and is possibly even trying to get it changed with MNHQ) because these discussions have moved on from being just about the Instamums and are about Instagram influencers in general.

Skyejuly · 09/06/2018 19:25

The ones with big followings annoy me but I just unfollow. I recommended dad of triplets before but now he is unbearable with ads.
The smaller accounts that try too hard to get stuff is embarrassing.

peoplearemean · 09/06/2018 19:33

Remember the old saying don't believe what you read in the papers? Well definitely don't believe what you read on insta. I know a few well known insta mums and their lives certainly aren't the bed of roses often painted as.

Claireshh · 09/06/2018 19:37

Honestly? I think this is all going too far. If folk post it’s an ad and you don’t like people earning money from Instagram stop following them. Come off Instagram. Fashion magazines have always been full of adverts. TV adverts. Product placement in supermarkets. We are constantly being influenced. If you don’t like it stop looking at Instagram, change who you follow.... Stop whinging.

I am on Instagram and view it a bit like reading a magazine. I welcome folk putting Ad in their posts. I really don’t give the ad’s any thought. If I’m interested I look at it, if not I scroll paste. I have not changed my shopping habits.

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 19:46

Its5oclocksomewhere - I clarified that I meant the OP. How is that hard to understand? I can't say it any clearer.

TheEagle · 09/06/2018 19:48

I only joined Instagram in April’s after reading a MN thread.

I use it a bit like claireshh, it’s like a magazine to me. It’s a bit crap that they don’t always highlight that the holiday/dress/shoes are advertising.

I’m not a fan of showing your children on social media but that’s my own personal opinion. It’s a bit worrying to me that some of the parents spend loads of time taking photos/on social media updating the minutiae of their lives rather than just being with their kids. (However I’m sure I spend way too much time on MN when I should be looking at my children)

I can’t get wound up about it, are there really people who believe that these women are documenting real life?

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 19:48

Exactly, Claireshhh.

TheEagle · 09/06/2018 19:49

April’s?! Just April

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 19:50

Theeagle - yes, previous threads there were posters actually believing everything they saw, everything was as it seemed, and that it's all rosy or more tongue in cheek posts meant instant neglect.
Quite worrying really.

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 19:59

CadyHeron that's just not true!

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 20:01

Wearelocal - were you on the other threads? There really were some (not all) who were genuinely concerned over staged type photos for example.

its5oclocksomewhere · 09/06/2018 20:01

Its5oclocksomewhere - I clarified that I meant the OP. How is that hard to understand? I can't say it any clearer.

It's hard to understand because the OP (checkedcloth) hasn't said anything in this thread about holidays being declared. You keep banging on about the OP saying a holiday was declared. Can't you distinguish between a holiday and Fat Face clothing?

TheEagle · 09/06/2018 20:06

Who is RVK please?

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 20:09

Are you reading the same thread? The original post

Today RVK loves (she of almost monthly holidays and comp’ed home stuff) declared a paid partnership with Fat Face. All good.

It's hard to understand because the OP (checkedcloth) hasn't said anything in this thread about holidays being declared. You keep banging on about the OP saying a holiday was declared
I was referring to the fact OP said she still wasn't happy if something was declared. This much is obvious, surely.
