The previous thread ended. Anyone else keen to continue to discuss?

Today RVK loves (she of almost monthly holidays and comp’ed home stuff) declared a paid partnership with Fat Face. All good.

Someone comments ‘You are terrible, you’ve made me order the dress and loads of other stuff’. RVK replies ‘oops sorry smiley face’

I had the disingenuous ‘Oops sorry about that’. She’s a paid influencer, it’s her job to make you buy things.

Just own what you are, stop pretending clogging stuff on instagram is some of public service

OP posts:
Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:11

CadyHeron. I've read all of them, been on 2 with name change. People were concerned about various things - stealth advertising, fake scenarios, potential exploitation of kids etc. I never took from any posts that people took things as they seemed or that staged posts showed neglect in the sense you seem to suggesting.

I also don't see the point in constantly referring back to previous threads and misinterpreting them for a new audience. Let people read them themselves if they are interested.

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 20:16

wearelocal - somebody asked if people did really believe everything they saw.
I replied. As people tend to do. There really were some properly concerned and mentioned social services etc. Which is why I said it was quite worrying that there were people that invested and feel that they know them personally as they're in the public eye so it must be immediately true out there.
My comment wasn't out of the blue, I answered a question. So not really "harking back" to past threads. Points were already brought up.

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:17

CadyHeron. Read the thread and your posts. The OP was talking about her view that she found rvk's comment annoying. Just that. The other post was about the meldrums not being clear anout apparently advertising Freebie holidays.

I see the point you are making - that the OP in your view isn't allowed to express an opinion about an IG being annoying, but you've made a confusing point by referencing a holiday, which the OP didn't mention. Clear now??

its5oclocksomewhere · 09/06/2018 20:20

Are you reading the same thread? You said (and I quote):

"the OP said all is good and they have declared that it's a paid for holiday, but they're still not happy."

NO - what the the OP said was (and I quote) "Today RVK loves (she of almost monthly holidays and comp’ed home stuff) declared a paid partnership with Fat Face. All good."

No mention from the OP about a paid for holiday - you're literally making that part up. Anyway, I'm done trying to correct your reading comprehension on this one.

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:21

CadyHeron that is really disingenuous of you. The thread that mentioned social services was deleted. Those comments were deleted. I reckon you are the most invested poster on these threads, and yet (if we are harking back) you have said you don't follow any of the people being talked about.

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:22

Its5oclocksomewhere it is like banging your head against a wall trying to reason with CadyHeron.

TheEagle · 09/06/2018 20:23

In fairness, cady was answering my question about whether people truly believed Instalife was real life

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 20:26

Paid for holidays - yep, just re-read and my bad, it was a clothing company. Not holiday.
The point still stands though, as in the OP said everything was declared clothing company wise and still wasn't happy.

its5oclocksomewhere · 09/06/2018 20:26

@Wearelocal -Yep, sorry I took the bait! :)

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:26

Eagle and CadyHeron respinddd saying people did, on previous threads. And she's wrong.

And you are missing the point.

SailOnSea · 09/06/2018 20:26

I've actually found some really good brands that I like and buy from. Do I know I'm being marketed too? Of course! I'm not that thick! But I do need clothes and when I find a blogger or whatever whose style I like it then it saves me time searching for stuff. I think the concern over the children involved is a red herring. There are LOTS of children to be concerned about. These kids aren't them. Should they slap an "Ad" hashtag on their posts? Yes. Do I want the government spending any time and money regulating this to any great extent? No. It's about 25 billion on the priority list.

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 20:26

TheEagle thank you. yes I was.

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:28

Its5oclocksomewhere yeah me too. I'm not responding to her again.

Apologies for random 'respindddd' typo. I got overexcited.

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 20:28

Wearelocal - if you were on the threads like you say you were, I am not wrong. It was there, maybe you chose to ignore it for your own reasons.

its5oclocksomewhere · 09/06/2018 20:29

@CadyHeron - due respect for re-reading and admitting you misinterpreted that.

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 20:30

its5oclock thanks, see I am normal really Grin

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:31

Sailonsea The ASA should be regulating social media BETTER. And lots of people are vulnerable and gullible and yes, thick. That is why advertising is regulated.

The issue of kids isn't a red herring to me and many other people.

I doubt anybody on these threads would say instagram is their top priority. So they shouldn't comment on it?

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:32

CadyHeron what was there? What did I ignore 'for my own reasons'?

Wearelocal · 09/06/2018 20:34

Scratch that CadyHeron. I'm not playing ball with you anymore. You are a motiveless malignity.

NotARegularPenguin · 09/06/2018 20:36

I use Instagram but don’t follow any of these type of people.

Just follow Hill walkers and hikers, some nice photography types. That’s it. Oh and dogs.

BeansandSausages · 09/06/2018 21:34

I had a look at the reality tv stars after someone mentioned it on the previous thread. How on earth do they not fall foul of asa or get caught, they're so blatantly not declaring things. I think perhaps they don't care as any publicity is good publicity and all that?!

Far from my cup of tea so I don't follow but I had a good look and fell down a rabbit hole of cringe.

ScipioAfricanus · 09/06/2018 23:28

Ooh any you could recommend, Penguin? I would like to be inspired walking-wise. Have really enjoyed NASA’s account after a recommendation here. My insta feed is shifting in a much more interesting direction!

LaminLodge · 11/06/2018 15:07

Instalife can be real life sometimes. And sometimes it cannot be real life. Just depends. 🤷🏾‍♀️

LaminLodge · 11/06/2018 17:20

I've been simmering since reading the thread earlier but now must speak up. @cadyheron please ignore @wearelocal calling you "a motiveless malignity"(No idea what she is jabbering on about Confused). She was all chummy chummy with me on the the first thread and then she turned, like what the shit??! Hmm and said she was "looking forward to seeing my new persona lolz".She is a strange one.🧛🏻‍♀️
