Just that really , Ive heard lots of different stories and would like to hear from sone people that have had the implant ...
does it make you gain weight?
Does it make you retain weight ... making it harder to loose ?
Did you lose weight once having it taken out ?

Thanks

I had Implanon. Had no impact on my weight but did give me low moods /feelings.

SongToTheSiren1 · 07/06/2018 20:50

I'm on my third. I put a couple of stone on when the first one was in and find it so incredibly difficult to lose weight now. And it goes on easily. But no other side effects so I would still recommend it!

SongToTheSiren1 · 07/06/2018 20:51

I don't mean instantly obviously! Over probably, 9 months. Where I had never gained weight before and no lifestyle or diet changes etc.

LoveInTokyo · 07/06/2018 20:58

I had three and I don’t think they affected my weight but I can’t be sure.

Foodylicious · 07/06/2018 21:02

I have been on the pill, depot and had the implant.
I have found it harder to loose weight on all of them than hormone free.
However it's hard to know if it's the hormones specifically or the lack of motivation and low mood that the pill could have caused??

TitsalinaBumSquash · 07/06/2018 21:05

I had the implant in for 6 months and gained 3 stone in that time despite trying so hard to control my eating so that wouldn't happen, I found myself waking up in the night with severe hunger pains even after eating a decent sized dinner. It's bloody evil and i class it as the single worst mistake I've made.

OhBergine · 07/06/2018 21:05

I had two and I lost weight when I had them. No periods either.

qate · 07/06/2018 21:08

I've had the implant and haven't noticed weight gain. Far prefer it to all other contraceptives I've used (pill, patches, copper coil - latter was hell on earth for me).

UnbornMortificado · 07/06/2018 21:10

I've lost two stone after having mine but I have an unrelated medical problem causing constant nausea so unsure really.

That's not very helpful sorry.

Stephisaur · 07/06/2018 21:10

I intentionally lost 4 stone while I had mine in, so I don’t believe that they cause you to gain weight.

Whatififall · 07/06/2018 21:14

I’m on my 3rd implant, I’m dieting and am losing weight. I didn’t find it had any impact on my weight. Not like when I had the injection years ago and ballooned. I just couldn’t stop eating on that, had the injection twice, stopped it after 6 months, appetite went back to normal so I’d not recommend that.

Sofiathefirst2346 · 07/06/2018 21:16

I’ve had drop injection for years and now on my second implant. I’ve never gained weight because of them and it doesn’t make it harder to lose weight xx

Moominfan · 07/06/2018 21:17

Ive got my second in. Have gained weight over the years but in all fairness im no stranger to the biscuit tin

Darkstar4855 · 07/06/2018 21:18

No change to my weight but did make my already oily skin a lot worse. Gave up in the end and switched to Mirena IUS.

theotherendofthesockportal · 07/06/2018 21:20

It made me pile on 3 stone and I turned into an evil monster. My moods were so unpredictable. After I had it removed I felt my uterus twang about 10 minuted after.
About a week after I had it out I started to look less bloated. Getting it removed was the best decision of my life.

GrannyHeadology · 07/06/2018 21:20

I had implanon for 6 years, my weight did not fluctuate by more than a few pounds here and there. I had it removed a year ago, I still can’t shift any weight so for me the implant didn’t negatively effect my weight

EchidnasPhone · 07/06/2018 21:23

2 stone weight gain, bleeding every day for 6 months, bloated, moody. 2 week after getting it out. I was mr again!

RavenLG · 07/06/2018 21:24

3rd implant and I'm really overweight, but I'm a fat shit so probably would be if I didn't have it.
I do find it hard to motivate myself to exercise, and eat low cal and barely shift pounds. I could just be lazy and have a low metabolism eat a cake to myself on the weekend

Bathtimebliss · 07/06/2018 21:35

Thank you for all of the reply’s a few mixed reviews....

Got a couple of weeks to male my mind up ..... would be so much happier to just get my tubes done and not have any hormones at all.
