My bathroom is being fitted. The fitter keeps commenting on my kids. DS = 4 1/2yrs, DD = 10 mths.
He keeps saying how gorgeous they are, how cute they are, And it's begining to give me the creeps.
What's worse is that I can't seem to keep DS away from him. (He is being natually curious.)
Help!!!
What can I do? (Apart from smack him in the face and tell him to get lost.)

he's probably got kids/ grandchildren himself and genuinely thinks they are cute. i'd be complimented. stop being paranoid! you are in the house, what's he gonna do?

2shoes · 21/05/2007 15:18

would it be better if he called them ugly

skay · 21/05/2007 15:22

It's just freaking me out!
Once is fine, But five or six times a day is a bit much IMO.

He's probably just short on small-talk, doesn't know what else to say.

I'd just preen every time he says it.

suzywong · 21/05/2007 15:24

well if it bothers you that much strike up a conversation about some paedo case that's been in the news over the last year and make it plain that you'd hunt down and kill with your bare hands anyone who even looked at your kids in a funny way.
And tap your nose with your index finger three times and then point at him and hold his gaze for an uncomfortably long time, say 15 seconds.

OH FFS! Its so nice to know that my DP will be appreciated for his polite chit chat whenever he works in peoples houses. He probably is equally pissed off with the disturbance if you want to know the truth. My DP loves children but hates working in homes with kiddies in, because they simply wont leave him alone and let him work. I should warn him not to talk to them, look at them or pass comment, lest he be labeled a pervert! Personally i would be more concerned with keeping DS away from the fitters power tools - oh, but then i guess it will be his fault if DS drills through his leg whilst the poor guy is trying to work! Of course the flip side is, while this guy is busy praising your children, he isnt actually fitting the bathroom.

Didn't mean to offend lucyellensmum. I'm sure that your DP is appreciated for his work, and probably does a brilliant job.

(Mental note to myself.... Must stop getting paranoid. Must stop getting paranoid.)

he does, which is why most people can't afford him

maisemor · 22/05/2007 15:54

Suzywong, that is just too funny.
