To think she's wrong, not me

Bought a pair of jeans from Ebay, advertised as a size 24. They arrived today and they're a 24 inch waist which is no use to me. The ad never once says they're anything but a size 24. Seller is refusing to refund.

Sell them on ‘easy’ enough

PuppyMonkey · 07/06/2018 20:08

I agree, there are lots of places that sell jeans in size 24, 26, 28 etc. I always have to go and ask someone in the shop what that means in normal life.Grin

Aragog · 07/06/2018 20:08

I can see the listing but it says it's not available to view anymore.

Were there additional photographs which might have shown the size on that?

I'd assume size 24 from the title and description, not waist 24.

Aragog · 07/06/2018 20:09

aving said that, surely anyone knows that 7 for all Mankind don't go up to that kind of size?

Never heard of the make, so no.

ScreamingValenta · 07/06/2018 20:12

@Aragog Advanced-search on '7 for all Mankind bootcut 24' sold listings will bring up the original listing. The size tag in the jeans just says '24'.

itswinetime · 07/06/2018 20:23

Yeah having seen the listing you case isn't quite a strong while I can see your point I can see hers to she has a photo of the label and has listed it as the label has so it's possibly not as clear as I first thought

Terramirabilis · 07/06/2018 20:28

Also in the US and can confirm that here jeans are usually sold by waist inch measurement so if I saw 24 I would assume 24" waist specifically because they are jeans not other types of trousers. However, if you're not in the US I don't know why you would be expected to know that.

mayday00 · 07/06/2018 20:29

having said that, surely anyone knows that 7 for all Mankind don't go up to that kind of size?

Nope, given that I've never heard of the brand before today?

HunterHearstHelmsley · 07/06/2018 20:42

They're an American brand so tend to do their sizing in waist measurement rather than dress size. The size is 24 in that it's 7 For All Mankind's size 24.

quizqueen · 07/06/2018 20:47

If the seller is advertising in this country then I would say they have labelled their product incorrectly. However, without seeing a picture of the jeans I think it should be reasonably easy to tell the difference between a slim fit pair and an oversize one so that should have warranted some questions being asked by the buyer before purchase. I've never heard of the brand either so I wouldn't assume they only came in smaller sizes

elessar · 07/06/2018 20:57

The wording on the listing could be somewhat unclear but in all honesty a 2 second glance at the photos show very clearly these are not a size 24!

polsha · 07/06/2018 20:58

Just looked up the listing,

How do you do that?

OP I think without the full listing it's impossible to say if she was wrong

polsha · 07/06/2018 21:10

The wording on the listing could be somewhat unclear but in all honesty a 2 second glance at the photos show very clearly these are not a size 24!

But these are an entirely different pair of jeans Confused

elessar · 08/06/2018 07:56

@polsha No they aren't? It's the expired listing, you do need to scroll down to see it but it's very clearly the same listing from the OPs screenshot...

HellenaHandbasket · 08/06/2018 08:01

There is no way in a million years that they look anything like a size 24. You're both wrong tbh, but I'm sure they will refund you. Post them back when it comes through.

polsha · 08/06/2018 08:32

No they aren't? It's the expired listing, you do need to scroll down to see it but it's very clearly the same listing from the OPs screenshot...

Totally different - pic shows where link takes me.

ScreamingValenta · 08/06/2018 08:36

The link goes to the right listing. Ignore the thumbnails of jeans on the first screen - that's just showing similar items - scroll right down and you will see the jeans the OP bought.

polsha · 08/06/2018 08:39

It redirected me sorry. I missed the tiny link where it says 'listing' - pis shows what i get when I click link

Having clicked on that I can see quite obviously that these are not a size 24 Grin

polsha · 08/06/2018 08:40

That's even more confusing lol

I mean I missed the tiny link in the picture. Pic shows where original link takes me

ScreamingValenta · 08/06/2018 08:43

Ah, you're on the app, polsha - apologies, my 'scroll down' instructions were for the browser version of eBay.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 08/06/2018 08:50

Assuming that this is a private seller, they are probably trying to fall back on their no returns policy. Don't worry about that, it only really applies to change of mind returns.
The item is not as described, so you can open a case and get a refund that way. If the seller still doesn't play ball, then you can ask eBay to step in after a few days and they will refund you, possibly without having to return the item.

MarthasGinYard · 08/06/2018 08:54

I wouldn't assume a dress size 24 as I know this Jean brand and expensive Jeans are sold In waist size

I think they go up to a 34"

Haffiana · 08/06/2018 09:06

Anyone who sells clothing on eBay without bothering to make and clearly list all the measurements is just asking for stuff to be returned to them at their expense. There was a thread on here about this recently and I was amazed at the attitude of some of those that are eBay sellers.

If you open a 'significantly not as described' case then you will not have to pay the return postage.

polsha · 08/06/2018 09:07

screaming that makes sense, well sort of! I think it may be the mobile site as I don't actually have the eBay app Grin

Haffiana · 08/06/2018 09:08

And you can ignore anything a seller puts about not accepting returns. This only applies to items where the buyer has changed their mind, not where the item was not properly described.
