To think dogs and kids should never be left alone together.

I have just been on a social media thread on the above subject which turned rather interesting!
I firmly believe that all dogs can, given the right circumstances or provocation, turn and attack and I would never leave a child alone with one. However, the majority of people were less than impressed with my opinion Wink.

I agree with you OP. I have a very laid back soppy dog but he is always monitored when family come to visit. As much to stop him eating too much chocolate muffins. In all seriousness, it simply is not worth the risk. So no, young children and dogs should always be supervised.

Your dog doesn’t recall even indoors? It’s the first thing I teach mine when I get them, how do you do anything with your dog if it won’t come over?

It does recall. It just doesn’t come when I call it, because it is deaf.

Amend that to "kids under 7". That's the demographic that gets bitten: they may harrass the dog til it retaliates. An 11 yo is a little different!

I agree with you OP.

When I hear stories on the news about family dogs attacking babies and toddlers....I think what irresponsible parents they are for putting their children at risk and I struggle to sympathise with them.

I feel sorry for the child...but annoyed with the parents.

I think the British can be crazy with dogs. All this sleeping on the bed is just unhygienic and not right for me.

Thanks for all the replies. I find it worrying that some people refuse to accept even the possibility that their dog could turn I must admit.
