...to wonder why they are always on holiday?

Someone I know seems to be on holiday all the time - must be 5/6 times this year. They are seeing a psychiatrist / physiotherapist for all sorts of issues and can't work but is very fit and constantly abroad on holiday - some very activity based.

With all these issues that they have, why is it OK for them to be on holiday all the time? They don't work.

I don't want to be unsympathetic, but is there something I'm missing here?

And it's your business because?

jainaproudm · 06/06/2018 21:18

Aside from the fact that it's none of your business, you mean?

dontbesillyhenry · 06/06/2018 21:18

Because they can?

Itchytights · 06/06/2018 21:21

Why is it any of your business??

Absolutely fuck all to do with you.

MarcelMarceau · 06/06/2018 21:22

👃 Out

AmazingGrace16 · 06/06/2018 21:22

If you know them then ask them.

If you don't know them well enough then it's not your business to know.

MongerTruffle · 06/06/2018 21:22

I didn't know it was against the law to go on holiday.

Notevilstepmother · 06/06/2018 21:22

Maybe it’s part of the management of their health. Definitely it’s none of your beeswax. HTH.

smallchanceofrain · 06/06/2018 21:29

None of your business - unless it impacts on you in some way.

SoftSheen · 06/06/2018 21:39

Well, if they can't work, they are no doubt getting a massive disability payout that funds multiple holidays a year, all paid for by the tax payer. Shocking.

(Is that what you wanted, OP? Grin)

CurlsandCurves · 06/06/2018 21:40

I know it’s none of anyone’s business but come on, if this was someone you knew, wouldn’t you be just a little bit curious?

SmashedMug · 06/06/2018 21:42
Sparklesocks · 06/06/2018 21:43

It’s not really any of your business and it’s weird you care so much

greendale17 · 06/06/2018 21:44

I know it’s none of anyone’s business but come on, if this was someone you knew, wouldn’t you be just a little bit curious?

^I agree

KennDodd · 06/06/2018 21:47

Are they away somewhere sunny? I wonder if it's part of some sort of treatment plan? Or maybe they can't cope with the pressure of being at home and so keep 'running away'?

elephantscanring · 06/06/2018 22:02

Well, so long as they’re not claiming disability benefits when they’re not disabled, then it’s none of your business.

Perhaps it is for their health - but then i’m sure we’d all be loads healthier if we went on 6 holidays per year!!

I agree it is curious...

Missingstreetlife · 06/06/2018 22:04

Flights are cheap, maybe they stay in hostel or w friends.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/06/2018 22:04

What are you really getting at here?

brizzledrizzle · 06/06/2018 22:05

I don't want to be unsympathetic, but is there something I'm missing here?

Yes. The fact that a) you are unsympathetic b) sticking your nose into somebody else's business and c) presumably you are jealous.

Other that, no, probably not.

TheFirstMrsOsmond · 06/06/2018 22:07

Try turning your question round: Why ISN'T it OK for them to be on holiday all the time?

ilovesooty · 06/06/2018 22:09

I'm sure you can report them. Hmm
Is that what you wanted to hear?

Pollypudding · 06/06/2018 22:13

Working abroad?
Long distance relationship?
Travel writer?
Drug mule?
Why do you care so much?

MrsMuddlePluck · 06/06/2018 22:14

Blimey I so much vitriol! At least some others are a bit curious / nosey / whatever.

I think what OP is getting at is they are unable to work but can somehow afford all these holidays and are well enough to go abroad. I have known of multiple people like this who are claiming DLA and the likes saying they can't walk more than 100M but they went to Ibiza for 3 weeks with 1000s of photos of them clubbing. I don't think there is any need for such nastiness she was just asking if it was unreasonable (or not) to be questioning it and personally I don't think it is unreasonable I don't say anything and keep out but I do often find myself wondering how people can afford so many holidays on benefits especially when they're claiming they can't do anything and yet I know people working 50+ hours a week who can at a push go on one holiday a year.

PieAndPumpkins · 06/06/2018 22:16

Depends if they're claiming benefits or not. If they are then it's absolutely your business, and my business and every other tax payer in the country's business. If they don't then great, good for them. Holiday on!
