And I’m a recovering alcoholic. 5 months sober. All gone now like I’d never bothered. So here I am, back to square one

I'm so happy for you. You ought to be so incredibly proud of yourself. Go you!

ellesbellesxxx · 19/11/2021 21:36

Well done you! That’s fantastic xx

CityCommuter · 19/11/2021 21:44

@Hiphopopotamus I think this is the best update EVER! Firstly congratulations on your daughter and secondly for staying sober! You don't need to worry now as I can tell from your attitude that you've turned over a completely new leaf and that you're resilient. Maybe you needed that blip 3 years ago... well you've got it out of your system and it's over now so you can continue being healthy and moving forward and being a good Mum. You've proved 'where there's a will there's always a way'... Well done xx

Congratulations on your daughter and your continuing sobriety 💐💐

CandidaAlbicans2 · 20/11/2021 09:21

Great updates @Hiphopopotamus 😊😎 I groaned when I saw it was a zombie thread but it's fine when an OP resurrects, and it really shows how well you've done over the last 3+ years.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 20/11/2021 09:27

This thread has made me so happy this morning. You are amazing and should be so proud of yourself.

Ironic seeing as you are directly calling me a bitch?

I wasn't rude, I suggested that you read the thread and pointed out that it was started years ago.

How would you have put that "kindly"?
I can certainly think of ruder ways to phrase it.

Starsnspikes · 21/11/2021 23:01

This is amazing to read.

OP, as someone who grew up with an alcoholic mum, it fills me with so much joy to hear that you've made it three years and still going strong. My mum drank from when I was about 5 years old until I was 16. She's been sober for going on 20 years now and I could not be more proud of her. I saw her relapse numerous times over the years, and in fact the very last time she drank it was a 'blip' - she'd been sober a little while and had a slip up, but she got straight back on the wagon and didn't allow it to derail her. It just shows that even if you think you've screwed up, what's the point etc, it's never too late to make a better decision tomorrow.

Wishing you many more sober years ahead ❤

A very heartwarming update - thank you!
What a battle! What an effort! What an achievement!
Remember to forgive yourself - none of us are machines. I’ve been telling my kids since they were teenagers - it’s OK to f*-up now and again - we all do. Why you get knocked down it’s not a failure if you get back up again - which is what you did - that is what you are capable of. Enjoy your daughter - they grow up so fast - go all in on that while they are young - make memories - what you do now, when they are young, matters a lot in shaping them. Flowers
