And I’m a recovering alcoholic. 5 months sober. All gone now like I’d never bothered. So here I am, back to square one

Very glad to hear such a positive update.

Thank you for posting.

Ahhh, well done OP! I read the first post with such a sense of dread for you, I'm so glad it's a zombie and the update is such a lovely one.

MintMatchmaker · 19/11/2021 19:47

thank you, @Hiphopopotamus for sharing this victorious and glorious update. Well done, you. Really, well done. You are an inspiration. To do this and keep doing it every day is wonderful. You've made me cry.

I wish my DD had the strength you've had; or will find it one day. Nobody deserves to live that life. Flowers

LaurenKelsey · 19/11/2021 20:00

I am so HAPPY for you. That is a huge accomplishment, without a doubt. I just had a friend die of alcoholism. I’m so glad that you have made it through. 😊

MaybeMaybeNotJ · 19/11/2021 20:01

Huge congratulations!

1frenchfoodie · 19/11/2021 20:09

That you came back (again) just to offer hope and encouragement to others says a lot about you OP. Congratulations on getting through recent years and a new baby sober.

Opalfeet · 19/11/2021 20:12

Amazing, this is lovely to read. So thanks for resurrecting your old thread. Nice to see some good news!

brambleon · 19/11/2021 20:13

Well done you! You should be so incredibly proud of yourself. Congratulations on your little girl! x

CaMePlaitPas · 19/11/2021 20:24

As someone who has had a family member die from alcoholism and several members of my family, including myself, struggle with alcohol your thread really resonated. I was reading the updates from 2019, praying that you were OK and that you were back on track. I'm proud of you OP, what an achievement. Keep it up and look after yourself, if you're OK everything else will fall into place x

Missmissmiiiiiiiiisss · 19/11/2021 20:43

Congratulations on your little one and massive well done!

And congratulations on your baby girl. Her mamma is a rock star!

Wow, what a really powerful thread. You should be so proud of yourself op, you have done incredibly😍🤩

Well done on your sobriety and how lovely that you now have a daughter. Really inspiring💐💕

Hiphopopotamus · 19/11/2021 21:05

Oh you’re all so lovely! I really appreciate you all reading and commenting.

Absolutely no judgment from me for the non readers - I know zombie threads are confusing at the best of times! I knew in posting on my old thread I’d get plenty of people telling me to pour the wine away. I wouldn’t have (and didn’t!) take that advice at the time but I’m still grateful that you care enough about an alcoholic stranger to post it.

I know my daughter can’t be the reason for my sobriety. She’s not, and I would never put that burden on her. But she is an extra incentive for me. She deserves the very best and she deserves me to be the best mum I can be.

Congratulations op xxxxxx

Dancingbugbadge · 19/11/2021 21:17

5 months sober is amazing. Just tip it alway. Even if you don’t and you drink it tomorrow is a new day. You don’t have to drink tomorrow. You have done it before and you can do it again.

gillsareforfish · 19/11/2021 21:20

Congratulations on your little girl and well done on your 3 years sobriety.

TwoDogs9 · 19/11/2021 21:23
