to think Love Island is a pile of crap?

I have never watched it. So I don't know for sure. But reality TV? Not for me. I have seen the pictures of the people that are on it. Why can't they have realistic people on there? People with a bit of meat on them, who all have that pursed lip look about them.

Cheap nasty TV. Devalues sex and relationships. So yes, it's a pile of crap.

Hedwig86 · 05/06/2018 22:31

YABU, it’s one of the great artistic works of our times.

Asthenia · 05/06/2018 22:32

It’s pure mindless trashy entertainment. Something sorely needed amongst all the rubbish going on in the world at the moment

MizK · 05/06/2018 22:33

YANBU

That's why there are multiple channels.

I love it. Absolutely love it. Most things with real people are fascinating...too much tan and filler doesn't make a person less interesting IMO.

Middleoftheroad · 05/06/2018 22:34

I watched it today to see what all the fuss was about and tuned out after 5 minutes. I think I'm too old for this. That said, DM (72) loves it!

LARLARLAND · 05/06/2018 22:35

They make the contestants sleep in the same bed. I find that quite shocking!

MinesaPinot · 05/06/2018 22:37

Everybody, I mean everybody in my office seems to be watching it.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.

But then I can't stand any 'reality' tv

AngeloMysterioso · 05/06/2018 22:43

I don’t watch reality tv usually but I got sucked into Love Island last year. I do love it, but I would prefer they had a bit more physical diversity on there as opposed to the standard issue abs and hairless chests on men, and fake pretty much everything on most of the girls.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 05/06/2018 22:46

Was literally gonna do a thread about it when I saw this... and people getting excited for it for the last few months. I usually watch something on my laptop whilst it is on but can usually hear everything and today my 14year old sister swearing at the tv because one of the guys did what he was suppose to do and she didn’t like his choice. How desperate can you be to go on an island to get the fame and to find a boyfriend whilst flirting and kissing all the others because producers say so 😬 what a load of bollocks

LegallyBrunet · 05/06/2018 22:49

I can’t stand it. My fourteen year sister seems obsessed with it. I’ve tried talking to her about how it’s not a real representation of relationships and it’s all misogyny and I just got a load of eye rolls and sarcasm in reply

Andrewofgg · 05/06/2018 22:50

In other news: ursines defecate where arboreals abound.

Andrewofgg · 05/06/2018 22:51

And the Argentinian gentleman in charge at the Vatican is of the Romish persuasion.

ReggaetonLente · 05/06/2018 22:53

People enjoy different things. Let them!

Bubba1234 · 05/06/2018 22:54

I can’t get into it I wish I could

LawDegreeBarbie · 05/06/2018 22:56

YABU because I love it. YANBU because I understand it's trash. But still, YABU. 😂

StealingYourWiFi · 05/06/2018 22:57

YABU

StealingYourWiFi · 05/06/2018 22:57

I like it because it's shit Grin

Mousefunky · 05/06/2018 22:58

Never watched it either. Don’t fit the demographic.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 05/06/2018 23:05

I think it’s VERY cleverly marketed. It’s all over the place in the media so you can’t fail to become aware of it. The journos’ usual way of writing about it is to refer to it as “this year’s must-watch TV series” or “my guilty pleasure, and most of my office’s”, or “I wanted to see what the fuss was about so I tuned in and now I’m hooked!”

Very clever indeed. A massive infiltration of comments about it on social media and you have a marketing dream. People don’t like feeling like they’re missing out on something so as long as it is banged on about enough in social media and on telly and radio then even people who haven’t watched it will think they SHOULD be watching it.

It’s all a load of nonsense really. I haven’t actually found anyone who watches it yet. One person on my facebook.

FrankiesKnuckle · 05/06/2018 23:24

YANBU.

Vacuous shitwits.

CantankerousCamel · 05/06/2018 23:24

YABU to even think about it...
I have no idea even what it’s about

merville · 05/06/2018 23:27

Boobs, arses, abs, tats, fake nails/hair/lips, bullshit, bullshit, drama & more bullshit.

In the sun.

Apparently that is what the British public (or a section of it) wants.

TitZillas · 05/06/2018 23:28

It’s a total guilty pleasure for me Blush I need some light relief in my life at the moment and this fits the bill!

CantankerousCamel · 05/06/2018 23:29

God it sounds dreadful.

I know it’s dreadful simply from all my friends who watch crap on tv saying they can’t wait to see it.

We binge watched Party of Five while the kids were up then watched Peaky Blinders... that sort of nonsense doesn’t even enter our thoughts

DepressedAspie · 05/06/2018 23:39

Lowbrow rubbish designed to entertain and distract the masses and stop them from thinking about more important things. Most of the tv is like this anyway, so one more trashy show won’t make much difference.

Glad we got rid of the tv.
