This is all getting a bit serious now.
So about a month ago we find a pair of men’s socks in our pile of clean washing.
Neither of us have ever seen them before. They are a cartoon character pair so quite distinctive. We pondered over where they had come from, asked family, everyone denied knowledge so we just put the matter to bed.
Anyway, 2 weeks ago we find another pair of men’s socks on the floor in our bedroom. Trainer socks. Neither of us own trainer socks.
Only close family been here, all deny knowledge and it’s only my parents and sister that have been round. Parents don’t wear trainer socks and socks far too big for my sister. Also a bit grubby/dirty.
There has been a builder here, but he’s been in boots so doubt he’d wear trainer socks and if so why take them off?
DH started to get a bit suspicious.
There must be a reason why strange socks are appearing right?
Kids are preschoolers so nothing to do with them.

A dog we look after likes socks and will steal them from anywhere, carry them round for a bit, then drop them when a more interesting sock comes along. As he's not allowed in our bedroom we never find them there except we do, all the time.

My phone just autocorrected "socks" to "dicks" Blush

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 04/06/2018 23:59

Do they belong to your parents?

LandOfOddSocks · 05/06/2018 00:01

Your house must be the mysterious place where the odd socks are finally reunited!

My search is complete. Grin

DioneTheDiabolist · 05/06/2018 00:05

We have this problem with men's pants. DP does the laundry and has occasionally eyed me with suspicion when questioning me about strange boxers (they're always boxers). I threw out a pair only 3 days ago. They definitely weren't ours.

LurpakIsTheOnlyButter · 05/06/2018 00:14

If anyone is missing a pair of fluffy black socks with white spots they appeared in my house about 6 weeks ago. I left them on the radiator next to the front door in the hope a visitor or babysitter would claim them but they don't seem to belong to anyone.

Maybe I have a weak spot in the walls of the dimension somewhere in my house

Lellochip · 05/06/2018 00:19

@abbsisspartacus Can't help with Mickey Mouse pants but if he ever lost a tiny pair of football pants, they turned up in my spare room after two years of living there alone! Hmm

SaltyPeanut · 05/06/2018 00:55

Re: the trainer socks. Could the cleaner be using them over her hands as dusters because I've heard of a few using old socks for that.

The Mickey Mouse socks, same thing maybe because some folk don't like cartoon socks but use them for dusting if given them as a gift so as to get some use out of them.

Boring suggestion, I know, prefer the idea of sock ghost or portals to another dimension myself.

TuTru · 05/06/2018 01:00

Somebody is wanking into socks!

fivehundredguys · 05/06/2018 01:05

How long have you lived there and did any appliances come with the property?
When we moved in, previous owner left a dryer.
Thought I'd dry some towels since it was winter and the house was freezing, took them out to find a pair of massive ladies undies. Shock

WattdeEll · 05/06/2018 01:15

A plumber related to my boss fired a workmate when he found out he would steal undercrackers from people’s laundry piles and plant them in other people’s homes “for laughs”. Could it be something like that?

halfwitpicker · 05/06/2018 01:18

Who actually folded the socks? Or were they found already folded?

It's one thing finding socks, but another finding wash and folded socks. Does the cleaner do the laundry?

NotMyFinestMoment · 05/06/2018 01:19

Do you have a cat? If so, kitty is probably the answer. Cats love to bring home gifts to their owners and has probably been trying to woo you over with presents. If it is the cat, be grateful, my cats bring back dead mice and occasionally the head (no body) of a mouse it has eaten...

halfwitpicker · 05/06/2018 01:24

FWIW a black Tommy Hilfiger sweater showed up in our laundry. No-one had left it etc, totally mysterious.

There was a thread on here a while back about this, someone kept getting random AC-DC t-shirts in the laundry or something. Might have been Def Leppard.

LoveProsecco · 05/06/2018 01:49

We had a washing machine that retained small items like socks. Sometimes just spat them back months later

QuackPorridgeBacon · 05/06/2018 08:22

Weird. I’ve had many socks go missing but none that have just appeared. Thankfully.

Bumble1830 · 11/06/2018 21:24

Did you ever solve the mystery?
