To think that no one likes their middle name?

My DDs like each other’s middle names, but not their own. DH and I don’t like ours. Extrapolating to the rest of the world, no one likes their middle names, but I am not sure why.

I do now, because I picked it myself, after getting rid of awful dated of the time names by deed poll.

greenlavender · 03/06/2018 11:39

Mine's a typical sandwich filler - very bland

Awrite · 03/06/2018 11:41

Mine is my Mum's name so I've never really seen it as mine.

Mind you, I don't really identify as my first name either. Strange.

PerfectlyPosed · 03/06/2018 11:48

I don't hate mine but it's one of those typical filler middle names from the 80s.

My DDs middle name is the same as both mine and DPs grandmothers who both happened to pass away around the time she was born. With DC2 I won't give a middle name unless it means something.

PurpleNailVarnish · 03/06/2018 11:48

I like mine!

IsadoraQuagmire · 03/06/2018 11:58

I love both my middle names.

dudsville · 03/06/2018 12:00

Mine goes perfectly with my first and last name. I wish I could use it more, when introducing myself I'd love to be able to say I'm first, middle and last name!

QuestionableMouse · 03/06/2018 12:01

I like mine better than my first name.

Rattail · 03/06/2018 12:03

I love mine but hate my first name

augustusglupe · 03/06/2018 12:03

I’ve got a middle name that was given to pretty much every girl born in the 1960s. It’s like every parent thought ‘that’ll do’
It’s not an awful name, but just a nothing name.

DramaAlpaca · 03/06/2018 12:05

I like mine, it's the name I've always gone by, which I'm glad about as I detest my first name. I share my middle name with my grandmother & I love having that link with her.

My DC all like their middle names too. We avoided family ones because all the available options were too awful to use, & picked names we loved.

jarhead123 · 03/06/2018 12:05

Blonde- is yours Louise?! Loads of my friends had Louise as a middle name!

augustusglupe · 03/06/2018 12:06

greenlavender Yes, a ‘sandwich filler’ suits my middle name perfectly!!

BrazzleDazzleDay · 03/06/2018 12:06

Can't say I'm particularly bothered by mine, Clare. Have a odd first name and maiden name so it's maybe just a bit plain and totally inoffensive?!

None of my kids have one. Dh has fils name, now THATS annoying!

IHeartKingThistle · 03/06/2018 12:07

My mum didn't have one and always wanted a particular one. For her 60th I gave her the name by deed poll might have pretended to be her when filling in the online forms Grin

MaterialReality · 03/06/2018 12:08

I like my middle name although it used to really bother me that the spelling is wrong. It is at least phonetically accurate, though.

My first name is one of those twee hyphenated ones (like Carrie-Lee) and I've always gone by the first part on its own. I have fairly typically MN taste in names but my parents really didn't!

Oopsy41 · 03/06/2018 12:10

I prefer my middle name to my first name

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 03/06/2018 12:11

I used to have a middle name but I changed my name to remove it.
Didn't like it so decided I didn't need to live with it Grin

Skyblueray · 03/06/2018 12:11

Omg at @norrhernknickers i am not kidding you that was also my exact same convincingly actual made up middle name lol

Playdohnut · 03/06/2018 12:14

I don't particularly like my middle name BUT I have been doing a bit of family tree tracking and middle names are so useful when you're trying to figure out who's who.

AnneProtheroe · 03/06/2018 12:19

I prefer my middle name!

PsychoPumpkin · 03/06/2018 12:21

I love mine. It’s Ashley.

Rachie1973 · 03/06/2018 12:21

I have Louise, same as most other women born in the 70s lol. I quite like it.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 03/06/2018 12:23

I like mine. In fact I used to watch to change to my first name to my middle name. My partner likes his, it’s what he goes by. Since he was a kid he’s been called his middle name.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 03/06/2018 12:40

I like mine. DD and DS both like theirs. DH doesn’t like his.
