Can I please pick your brains for dd1?
Dd1 is currently in Y11, she has always had an eye for fashion and style and is keen to work in the industry. Her y11 final textiles piece (a self designed and constructed dress) has earned her the equivalent of an A* she obviously has yet to get her full exam results but is also expected a distinction for creative crafts and a b for Art.
Her plan is to go to college and study for a level 3 extended diploma in art and design where, in the 2nd year, she will be able to specialise in fashion+textiles, graphic design and possibly photography. She will then go on to uni to study a 4 year sandwich degree in Fashion marketing with the hope of forging a career as a fashion buyer, although she is also very interested in visual merchandising.
In the mean time she plans (hopefully) to gain employment in a clothing store to gain some practical experience along the way.
Does this sound like a practical and effective plan? Have you got any hints or tips that you wouldn't mind sharing with her please.
