Texting? What levels acceptable?

So me and my bf don't live together. We have been together a year and see each other twice a week usually depending on work and commitments with our Children. We text quite a bit throughout the day. We met online and have always done this. We always text first thing in the morning, last thing at night and all throughout the day usually I estimate probably about 50 messages. So how much does everyone else text in a relationship like mine? My BF made a comment the other day that I'm quite needy with texting (I do need a lot of contact tbf) but the more I think about it the more I realise he texts and initiates just as much as me!!

I would say that the number of messages isn’t the issue, the fact that your oh thinks it’s too much is....he’s feeling like you are smothering him, for whatever reason, this is what you need to address first

50 texts a day? How do you get any work done?
That’s 4-5 every hour over a 12 hour period!

My DH works away quite a bit. On an average day he’ll text me twice and have a phone call with me and the children.

I’d find 50 texts needy, suffocating and bloody annoying.

I can't imagine how you get any work done if you are texting that much. Don't your colleagues or managers mind ?

However, if you were both happy with it (and it doesn't get in the way of work) then what does it matter what anyone else thinks ?
The issue is that he has indicated he finds it a bit much.

As another poster has indicated, I think dh and I would probably only text about 50 texts in 6months though, if you are looking for comparisons (obv different as we see each other morning and night about 5 days a week as a norm...).

Been together nine years, married I work away a lot for a week at a time, between 1-10 messages a day maximum, often nowhere near ten
