AIBU to post this link here? It’s about leaving dogs in cars. A dog owner thought it was acceptable to leave a labradoodle in a Ford KA with all the windows shut for 45 minutes at a garden centre earlier. The side of the driver seat was completely saturated from where the poor dog was panting so much. Sadly the owner (who claimed to have only been a few minutes) did not see anything wrong with leaving a dog in a hot car and I’m worried that she will continue to do so Sad

Yabu anyone who would leave a dog in a hot car isn't going to take any notice and the rest of us don't need to be "reminded"

I haven't clicked on the link but I'm guessing just "don't leave dogs in cars"?

Sadly, people who do leave their dogs in cars aren't going to pay attention. They just think "Oh, I'll only be a minute", "they mean really hot days, not like today" or "I'll leave the window open".

So YABU op. Stop wasting your time.

Yes. Well done for sharing.

This is one of my pet hates.

People who leave their dogs in cars are arseholes. Especially in warm weather. In fact, the weather doesn't even have to be all that hot before it will become too hot for the dogs inside a parked car.

I never take my dogs out in the car if I am going to places where I would have to leave them in it. They stay at home then.

Let's have a good Samaritan law where we get to smash windows if someone does this.

Only partly joking.

Topseyt · 30/05/2018 16:28

It is always worth repeating this one because if it makes just one of those stupid arseholes think first then it has achieved something.

Sadly though, there will always be arseholes, and some of them are far too dim and arrogant to take warnings in.

Yes. Don't do that.

Leaving an animal in a hot car is a crime in some states here in the US. In some states, it is legal to smash a window to rescue an animal from a hot car, and some states also have laws saying that the car owner can't sue someone who breaks into their car to rescue an animal.

Our dogs and kids sometimes stay in the car. We have remote start so we can leave it locked, engine running with the A/C on full. But only do it for short times
