To be bricking it about hospital appointment.

I put something in general health but there's no one there.

I went to the doctor as I've been having strange abdominal pain for a while now (well a month or so)

Apparently my cervix is inflamed and slightly ulcerated. He has referred me to hospital.

She says she is not unduly concerned but it needs to be checked out as a precaution.

I've always been up to date with my smears but I'm terrified it's something awful.

Please talk me down.

Probably just an infection that needs antibiotics, op Smile

stopbeingadramallama · 30/05/2018 12:23

I haven't really got anything to say but good luck with it.

Hopefully it's not too bad if she hasn't got you in for an emergency appointment. X

catweasel44 · 30/05/2018 12:25

I should get one within 2 weeks. Does that count as an emergency?

Hi @catweasel44

I have another thread open about hating the wait for tests/results so your post struck a cord.

I've also been having abdominal pain and my blood tests have been coming back as low white blood cells, so my mind has been racing. My next appointment to results will be next Wednesday.

No advice I'm afraid but a great big hug and a hand hold. Thanks

catweasel44 · 30/05/2018 12:34

Thanks fingers crossed

I've had a bit of a cry and told myself to stop googling!

OP posts:
MrsMyreton · 30/05/2018 13:19

Google is the worst! It is not your friend!! I still have the occasional slip and google my symptoms but I can see now, just how much more stressed I become when I do it. Stay strong! Thanks

catweasel44 · 30/05/2018 14:51

Thank you.

I suffer from anxiety at the best of times and this really isn't helping.

You're right though. Hopefully it's just an infection and I can get it sorted quickly.

I've never suffered from any gynae problems - not even period pains, so it's come as a bit of a shock.

OP posts:
catweasel44 · 30/05/2018 21:28

I've calmed down a little now. Hopefully 2 weeks will pass quickly.

OP posts:
catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 00:53

Now I can't sleep. Anybody up?

OP posts:
applesandpears56 · 31/05/2018 00:56

Could you afford to go private and be seen sooner?

applesandpears56 · 31/05/2018 00:58

It’s natural to be worried - it doesn’t mean anything will be wrong though - all kinds of possibilities exist for the pain - most very harmless

catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 01:00

Thanks apples.

They've said I'll.be seen within 2 weeks. I'm not sure private would be any quicker.

OP posts:
applesandpears56 · 31/05/2018 01:01

What have you been referred to have? You can get private ultrasounds etc the next day

cathcath2 · 31/05/2018 01:03

Hugs OP Flowers. Two weeks will pass - hopefully it is just an infection. Try and distract yourself with something else. But please do not Google: it is not your friend!

catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 01:03

It's with the gynaecologist. Examination and I think colonoscopy if they think it's necessary.

Hopefully it's just an infection.

Both of my parents did of cancer when I was quite young so I don't have a great experience. My mind always goes there first.

OP posts:
catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 01:09

Obviously it's gone from mildly uncomfortable to agonising immediately.

Half in my head I think and half because she's rummaged around.

OP posts:
cathcath2 · 31/05/2018 01:26

I hate it when they poke around and it hurts WAAAY more! I had this at a hosp appt the other week - does this hurt? Yes, now you've poked it! Does it hurt if I poke you in the eye? (I wouldn't really Grin)

(I do know they are only doing their job and am very grateful for our NHS.)

catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 06:17

Well I eventually got to sleep but not for long. I need to get a grip.

OP posts:
catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 13:20

I've got myself into a bit of a state and now I can't stop crying.

I've had to shut myself in the bedroom so DS doesn't see.

OP posts:
MrsSarahSiddons · 31/05/2018 13:30

Offering a handhold. It’s so hard when you’re waiting for an appointment. Wishing you the best. Try not to worry (easy to say I know). Can you distract yourself by going out somewhere nice with your little one?

catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 13:33

Thank you

I'm supposed to be working from home today (my little one is 13) but I can't concentrate on anything.

OP posts:
MrsMyreton · 31/05/2018 13:40

Oh @catweasel44 I hope you're ok. Agree with distraction technique. I like to go for a walk with DD and dog to relax sometimes. Is there somewhere nice you could walk to?

I've started to read a book on Health Anxiety by David Veale and Rob Willson which I've found helpful. I've also subscribed to the Headspace app and practicing the anxiety meditations daily.
Thanks

catweasel44 · 31/05/2018 14:14

Thanks MrsMyreton

I've had CBT for anxiety in the past and do have the headspace app - I need to break it back off. I feel like I've fallen off the anxiety wagon!

It's brought back a lot of feelings about my parent's diagnoses, which obviously went through the whole 'try not to worry' stages but then both ended so badly.

I know that is not what this is, and also it was over 20 years ago, but I just need to dig myself out of that place I think.

A walk is a good idea.

OP posts:
catweasel44 · 05/06/2018 11:53

The swab results came back negative so it's not an infection.

I'm really scared.
