To be bricking it about hospital appointment.

I put something in general health but there's no one there.

I went to the doctor as I've been having strange abdominal pain for a while now (well a month or so)

Apparently my cervix is inflamed and slightly ulcerated. He has referred me to hospital.

She says she is not unduly concerned but it needs to be checked out as a precaution.

I've always been up to date with my smears but I'm terrified it's something awful.

Please talk me down.

Ok... deep breath... Whats the next step?Flowers

catweasel44 · 05/06/2018 12:23

I'm still waiting for my hospital appointment which should be within the next week.

Did they say what the next steps would be? Have you had irregular bleeding, pain/bleeding after sex or bloating? X

mzsink · 05/06/2018 12:51

I hate this kind of anxiety. It just doesn't go away. In my experience it's always much worse in my head so hopefully it's the same for you Brew

SussexMedley · 05/06/2018 12:58

If you're up to date with smears, it is highly unlikely to be anything too serious. You're getting it checked out promptly and doing everything right. Don't Google, just let the doctors work. You've done everything right xx

catweasel44 · 05/06/2018 13:01

Thank you. That's what I keep telling myself.

Even if it is cancerous it must be very early on.

I just need to keep myself busy for the next week I suppose.

Honestly, I was like this when I found a lump.

I had very few red flags for breast cancer - only one female relative who's had it, too young etc etc. And yet, those 2 weeks were some of the worst of my life!

Be upset, Google or don't google, be stoic, have a panic attack.... If your brain wants to go for a drive through all the mental states it will! You can't talk yourself into being sensible and ignoring your worst fears.

Just make sure you practice self care and set firm boundaries as best you can. Absolutely no googling after 9pm. No screen time an hour before bed - you must read books instead. A nice bath if you can get it. Ignore the housework .Have as many cuddles as you can find people to give them to you. Talk about it as much as you can. Ask for help running the home so you can rest. Watch trashy TV. Eat some chocolate. Go for some fresh air. Have one glass of wine in the evening. Practice self care and your appointment wont be too far away Flowers

GloGirl · 05/06/2018 13:07

And my lump was just lumpy breasts. Lucky me!

MrsMyreton · 05/06/2018 14:27

Sorry to hear that @catweasel44

Is your appointment tomorrow?

I had this, agonising stomach pains, bloating, painful to have sex, I had a smear and swabs that all came back fine so I was referred to a gynaecologist and also had a scan - I have adhesions so scar tissue which is causing the pains, I’m just waiting for my app to have them laserd

I was really worried as about 3 years ago I had CIN2 cells removed so was panicking that some cells had been missed and turned to cancer. Thankfully this wasn’t the case with me.

Good luck Flowers

Be kind to yourself.
Firstly, there are many things it could be that are not that worrying. Secondly, if it is something a bit more serious then you are already in the system so it will get dealt with quickly.

Hand hold.

catweasel44 · 05/06/2018 17:06

Thank you!

God bless Mumsnet. So pleased you're ok bigpizzalover.

I'm feeling a lot better about it I think. It's good to know that people go through this all the time and are absolutely fine.

MrsMyreton · 05/06/2018 18:44

@catweasel44 yes, appointment with gp tomorrow to review my results... already been back for more blood tests on Monday because the last ones came back dodgy too. I'm just trying not to get too worked up because I'm guessing tomorrow will only lead to more tests and more waiting!

catweasel44 · 05/06/2018 19:00

It's horrid isn't it. You know there's nothing you can do but dig in until they're all done.

How did you get on MrsM?

OP posts:
MrsMyreton · 06/06/2018 19:17

Hi @catweasel44 Thank you for thinking of me!

Well, good news... I think? My white blood cell count is still slightly low but doc says it's returning to normal and that my CRP has all returned to normal too. My abdo pains have been significantly less the last couple of days, and doc says she is 100% sure that's it's caused only by some slow digestion. Back for a follow up blood test in July. Hoping that the abdo pains completely bugger off now so I can try to get back to normal. Can't help but feel that the worry will creep back if they continue though. Forever the pessimist. Wink

How are you doing?

catweasel44 · 06/06/2018 20:23

That's wonderful news.

I think I'm fine. I'm trying to rationalise it all and it's likely to still be next week before I get my appointment.

I just can't wait to forward to this time next week.

I might get some Night Nurse in in the meantime.

OP posts:
MrsMyreton · 06/06/2018 21:03

I know exactly what you mean about wishing you could fast forward. I do that too, then feel guilty about 'wishing my life away'.

Heard this the other day:
'It doesn't matter if the cup is half empty, or half full, so long as it's refillable.' And for some reason it helped me. Keep busy, and keep checking in!

catweasel44 · 08/06/2018 10:46

Appointment is tomorrow. At least it's not dragging over the weekend.

OP posts:
treeofhearts · 08/06/2018 11:20

Good luck op. Thinking of you. Don't Google. According to doctor Google I'm having a brain aneurysm and possibly a tumour. What I actually have is a compressed nerve and a bulging disc in my cervical spine which is treated by weekly physio and a chiropractor.

NotAnotherNoughtiesTune · 08/06/2018 12:42

Good luck OP.

I had some terrible abdominal pains, odd bleeding, bloating and sharp cervical pains about 6 years ago.

They think it's endometriosis but as got pregnant very soon after didn't check but the symptoms are less now I have the coil which makes them conclude the Dx was correct.

I had a friend who also had similar and she had a pelvis infection. I hope you get some answers or at least some ideas tomorrow.

AnnieAnoniMouser · 08/06/2018 12:52

Hi Cat

Definitely don’t keep asking Dr Google, he is a pessimistic alarmist with sadistic traits...and he’s not that clever!

I hope your appointment puts your mind at rest tomorrow - the waiting is the worst part of pretty much anything IMO. 💐

MrsMyreton · 08/06/2018 14:31

Hi @catweasel44

Be kind to yourself today, do whatever you need to do to cope. The wait is awful. Have everything crossed for you, good luck.

MrsMyreton · 09/06/2018 18:35

Hope you are alright today @catweasel44 Thanks
