To want to shower after exercise?

Joined a gym. Money is tight, so I joined my local councils gym. Bit basic, but all the equipment is there plus a pool so alls good, I thought.

But there aren’t any proper showers. There are open plan ones but obviously it isn’t appropriate to go naked in those (I assume) and so you can’t get completely clean. Aibu to think this is a bit shit?

It's totally normal to go naked in communal shower assuming it's in the women's changing room. It's totally normal on every gym/swimming hall I've been to. And you can wash your ass and fanny. Maybe not on lying on the floor and legs in the air but at least in my routine it's pretty discreet.

One of my gyms is just £11.99 per month. Great range of exercise equipment and private showers.

I'm another one who insists on showering straight after exercise Blush

Showering is good. I shower every week, whether I need to or not. :)

I'm a member of cheap council gym and they have cubicles. Like the OP I assumed that was standard. Not the nicest showers in the world but private at least. I'd hate to have to go home to shower because I'd have to get on the bus and that'd be pretty gross for the other passengers Grin

YANBU, but as has been said, you get what you pay for. Our local swimming pool is huge, and there are some 225 lockers - 125 smallish and 100 big ones.. Yet there are only TWENTY individual changing rooms. There is a big communal changing room with benches all round it, (for about 40-50 people,) and about 12-15 showers.

I know some women on forums like this, are 'all muffs and baps together girls!' but hell will freeze over before I shower naked, washing my bits and tits and so on, in front of a bunch of strangers in a communal shower room, and then parade around in front of them to the bench to get dried and dressed.

Weirdly, the vast majority of women I know in real life feel the same as me, and there is always a mad dash for one of the twenty changing rooms. When they can't get a private changing room, I see many women just dry themselves off with a big towel (with their cossie still on) and put an old sweatshirt and a pair of old leggings on, and then leave.

I see very few women who fail to get a private changing room, shower naked, and walk round naked in the communal changing room. It's very rare and very few people women do it (in my experience.) The few who do do are usually over 55. I never see middle aged and younger women walking round naked in front of strangers - ever. And I go swimming a lot.
