Next doors cat keeps jumping in through my bedroom window at night. It then runs downstairs and tries to get back out through my kitchen window.

My kitchen window is not open, so the bloody thing runs around in a panic. So far it has knocked two plant pots off the windowsill and has woken me up about a million times.

I told next door. They sort of shrugged and indicated that they couldn’t really do anything.

I like having my bedroom window open. I love cats. I quite like my neighbours - although the man is a bit mean to the woman, but that’s a separate issue. I also like sleeping.

Argh.

Noodles My cat will sit down on the table right in front of you and stare at you. If you ignore her she will eventually meow. She also has no lactose problems and loves plain joghurt, cheese and non-pasteurized milk (she mainly drinks water).

Lizzie48 · 30/05/2018 09:26

I echo the suggestion of putting a fly screen in there, the cat (sorry, I mean Feline OverlordGrin) will soon give up. You may even decide to keep it there to keep the wasps out in the summer.

ChipInTheSugar · 30/05/2018 09:28

I think I once had a date with the guy who invented those window things that thegreylady linked to .......

Nomorechickens · 30/05/2018 09:37

I would try the foil as crumble9 suggested. I wish I'd known about that 10 years ago, would have saved a lot of wiping down of work surfaces with antibac spray!

scaryteacher · 30/05/2018 09:38

My feline overlords are wondering why your visitor is not availing himself of the spot at the bottom of your bed, which is specifically reserved for cats?

Ollivander84 · 30/05/2018 09:39

This is not my cat

So essentially I have to barricade myself in or let the cat move in?

@Olivander84 your bed covering, the pink thing is gorgeous! Is it handmade?

feelingfedupnow · 30/05/2018 09:46

Me and DH were watching tv once and I heard a meow.. it didn't sound like my cat so I put the light on and saw this fat fluffy cat from over the road strolling around the bedroom!

Another time the fat fluffy cat and his brother came in, they attacked my cat on the stairs at 4am! Terrifying noise to wake up to and there were tufts of their fur on the stairs.. my cat can clearly fight well.

Cat from 2 doors up used to come in and steal food.. but he doesn't anymore. My cat goes into their house and steals treats! To the point they hid them haha! I have given them permission to squirt him if they see him!

I came down one morning and my cat was sitting under the table with a cat who used to live here!

My cat will claw at the cat flap if it's not open at night. But he won't keep a collar on so we can't get one of those flaps.
We haven't had any visitors for a while - that I know of anyway!

Lizzie48 · 30/05/2018 09:53

@feelingfedupnow you can buy microchip sensitive cat flaps now. They really do work, my cats don't wear collars either.

Ollivander84 · 30/05/2018 09:53

Maelstrop- yes but by a woman from Etsy! I fell in love with the fabric (Riley Blake wanna be a cowboy) and decided I needed it!

SnugglySnerd · 30/05/2018 09:57

My cat loved citrussy things and enjoyed a foil crisp packet to chase so I wouldn't be 100% sure citrus or foil would work!

I once said hello to the cat when he sauntered in and then realised that the cat was already asleep on my lap. Next door's cat had jumped through the window, eaten our cat's supper and was looking for a good place to snooze!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/05/2018 09:58

No OP. You have to let the cat move in. No other option is available to you. Resistance is futile.

woder · 30/05/2018 10:01

YesIt'sMe Wondered where my ginger cat was yesterday when it poured all day. She came home dry, cheers!

Lol! Unfortunately yes that's exactly it. Grin

Although I'm not sure one cat screen on your open window quite equates to baracading yourself in but ... totes get that feeling! ... You've got a friendly neighbourhood cat who loves your house... thinks you're fab... and his owners (minions) won't be able to stop him as that's the nature of cats. You are chosen and blessed but would prefer not to have been. So you have to make your house a 'not welcome' zone and cats simply don't understand mine and theirs.

flaxensunshine · 30/05/2018 15:53

@Yesitsme Where do you live, I think that’s my cat 😂😂😂

ChishandFips33 · 30/05/2018 15:58

Shamelessly place marking to see who wins.

My money is on the cat. When you are chosen, you are chosen for life!

I too have a 'Not my cat' Grin

woder · 30/05/2018 16:00

flaxen Excuse me! I was first, and it looks like my cat. Wink

Graphista · 30/05/2018 16:01

"Loan a small terrier dog for a week. Have him sleep at the end of your bed. After the first night cat won’t bother you again." Having grown up with various terriers (and wishing I could afford one now) this really made me chuckle - also very true! However the barking for at least an hour AFTER the bloody cat has gone will prob wake DC 😂😂😂

But yea a window screen prob best bet.

PurpleCrowbar · 30/05/2018 16:06

I have an entire fricking garden full of Not My Cats. Hot country; compound full of feral mogs. I am a known Soft Touch.

Having said that - baby bath full of cold water beneath window?! Would be chaos. But hopefully only once. Like a moat.

BlueBug45 · 30/05/2018 16:08

OH's cat knocks on windows to be let in so I don't think a screen would work. Oddly with me she glares at me. Neighbour's cat use to glare as well...

DarlingNikita · 30/05/2018 16:21

Just get a net or something. Think of it as a furry mosquito.

SmileEachDay · 30/05/2018 17:17

Oh bloody hell.

I may as well admit defeat. I got back from work today and it was sitting on my doorstep, all prim.

I think it’s on MN.
