To be scared of Shpock buyer

I sold some second hand electrical goods to a guy who came to my home to collect them. Even though he missed the first arranged time and was half hour late for the second, I gave him five stars, but he gave me four stars without any reason. I was slightly annoyed by it but let that go.

But then a week after the sale, he contacted and accused me of selling a faulty good. I didn't, I always check goods before selling and they were fine. I told him that and also argued that of all we know it could've been broken by him. After all he contacted me one week later! I've sold several electrical goods before and no one had problems, while his reviews show some of his buyers weren't happy with what he sold (yup I know, red flag). So I pointed that fact, but he doesn't seem to get my points and keeps contacting me calling me a cheating lier.

Now I am worried that he knows my home address and he might turn up to hassle me and even attack me. Or he might do that while I am out and about with my baby! Confused

It was only £10 so I can just return the money but then I also don't want to see this guy again or share bank account details!

Really regretting letting know my address like that and this whole experience puts me off from using Shpock again.

Am I being paranoid? If you were me, what would you do?

I would give him back his £10 via PayPal and then engage in no further contact.

I agree - give him back the money then block him.

Very annoying for you but worth it to get this arse off your back.

I would just give the money back. Sphock is a crazy place. My sister's always having problems. She sold a rug to a woman even delivered it to her hous e. The woman said it was perfect and she "loved it" anyway when my sister got home she had a nasty review on sphock saying the rug was filthy (it wasnt ) and the woman inspected it before buying. She even mad e a fake profile in order to get my sister's address. Another one when my sister bought something that didn't show up my sister open a PayPal case and the woman. Went crazy saying "remember it's me that has your address!"

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will return the money, but still feels there is no guarantee he will leave me alone Confused

I would be scared too. Maybe report him to 101 and say it's because you want to keep your child safeguarded. Then if he DID turn up at yours they would take it more seriously.

Unlikely he will though ! Your emotions are valid but try not to feel too scared yours probably safe and you can do the safety measures you can xx bless you

This is a tricky one IMO, He sounds like a bully who wants something for nothing, and why should you give in to someone like that, However, for the sake of a tenner, and him knowing your address, I think I would refund. Can you report on Shpock?

foxyloxy78 · 28/05/2018 23:03

Apologise and return the money. You can't risk your safety for £10. I know it was not your fault but you need him to let it go and move on. Ask for his address to post a cheque. That way you have his address too if anything escalates. If not paypal. I hate Shpock and gumtree. Always meet up in a neutral public place. Take someone with you if possible.
