Having an asthma attack but

Why in hell's blazes am I having it?

The only thing I can think of is the weather?

I'm ok and treating it with inhalers, but it's pretty bad

sonjadog · 28/05/2018 21:08

Is it thundery where you are? My asthma often gets bad just before.

stressedoutfred · 28/05/2018 21:09

Humidity? Pollen?

yawning801 · 28/05/2018 21:09

I agree with sonja, mine does too. Make sure you're leaning forward, it opens your airways more.

stressedoutfred · 28/05/2018 21:09

Have you called 111?

Mrsdarcyiwish10 · 28/05/2018 21:09

My chests been tight for a few days, I blame the heat and humidity

Middleoftheroad · 28/05/2018 21:11

Agree it's the storms and pollen. How are you controlling this right now?

GloGirl · 28/05/2018 21:12

Hot stormy weather before the storm breaks makes mine worse too - e.g. tonight!

Call someone if you need to.

nocoolnamesleft · 28/05/2018 21:12

Thunderstorm asthma - the Australians have published a fair bit on it. One theory is that the pollen breaks into smaller pieces, so more likely to inhale it?

Reythelastjedi · 28/05/2018 21:12

Humidity, I've been bad all day. Hope you're okay.

Dhalandchips · 28/05/2018 21:12

Yup, mine gets worse with rain too. As does my hay fever!

Merryoldgoat · 28/05/2018 21:13

Yes, weather is a terrible trigger for me. Daily antihistamines and steroid nasal spray helps me.

whatyadoing · 28/05/2018 21:15

Yes, thunder earlier.

OP posts:
whatyadoing · 28/05/2018 21:18

I didn't take my antihistamine last night. Doh! One of those things where you get bored taking it for no reason. Yup, reason now!

ElderflowerWaterIsDelish · 28/05/2018 21:21

The hot weather has been making me wheezy too

Take your inhalers,

Another thing that is helping me is a salt pipe/inhaler

You can get them really cheap from Amazon, ive found it helps me breathe a bit better and takes some of the wheezing away

whatyadoing · 28/05/2018 21:28

It's not being able to breathe in fully that's affecting me

OP posts:
whatyadoing · 28/05/2018 21:29

I'm on Ventolin and Serotide, was just wondering why really. Has to be the weather.

Shinygoldbauble · 28/05/2018 21:30

Dd's asthma is playing up too. Definitely the weather.
Hope you feel better soon.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 28/05/2018 21:32

Thunder and rain kicking all the pollen up. Mines a mess as is my dc. Dose up on antihistamine as well as your puffers

ProzacAndWine · 28/05/2018 21:34

I hope the antihistamin (you've taken it now, I guess!) and inhalers help settle it down. Mine's usually well controlled but has been quite bad for some weeks now. I just assume it's the pollen.

Gib1234 · 28/05/2018 21:35

I always seem to get worse in extremitres of weather, hot humid or freezing 😕
key is don't fester too much and be on top of meds 😊

ElderflowerWaterIsDelish · 28/05/2018 21:37

Gib1234 mine does too, cold and heat bring mine on..

I'm glad I've seen this thread so I know it's not just me experiencing this with asthma and the heat

ShastaBeast · 28/05/2018 21:41

I noticed it today. Need to make sure to take the preventer inhaler. DD was wheezy within a few minutes after stepping out of the house earlier. It felt very “heavy” if that makes sense. Our flat is very cool so probably has less impact inside.

MeganChips · 28/05/2018 21:42

Mine has been too. I am taking my inhaler (symbicort) as usual but still feeling it.

Gib1234 · 28/05/2018 21:45

When it gets too hot or too cold I always take an antihistamine as well.

ProzacAndWine · 28/05/2018 21:46

I've been taking extra doses of Clenil and Serevent twice a day, but still end up needing Ventolin daily at the moment. Taking two types of antihistamins a day, too. I've always known below zero dry cold is a trigger for me, but never thought about heat.
