Not tonight but I have a reoccurring dream that I go travelling to a town in the South of France and there’s a footbridge on the west of the town that you can take to walk to America.

Sometimes I take it (with whoever is with me in my dream) sometimes I stay in the French town drinking wine and there’s a hostel where everyone sleeps on the floor.

If I take the footbridge I end up in a liberal artsy kind of town in the US but which looks like a town I used to live in in Canada.

It’s a nice dream.

VogueVVague · 28/05/2018 07:38

@Candlelight123
Its about you aspiring to more in life. You recognise you have it pretty good all things considered but cant help wonder - is this it? Which makes you feel wistful. A normal existential dream 😊

I am dreaming nearly every night about me and DP splitting up (we haven't/aren't). We are not getting in particularly well at the moment but am hoping there is an explanation as I don't want to split up?

VogueVVague · 28/05/2018 07:42

@IfyouseeRitaMoreno
A dream about literally bridging cultures, where the american and the french speaking meet. Is there a part of you that misses the time you had in canada?
Maybe also an element of wanderlust within you, or a desire to live a freer, more creative life (both places are bohemian in your dream).

I didn't dream last night but the last dream I had didn't make sense.

It was three years into the the future and my upstairs neighbour was cleaning our communal hall way. Which confused me so I closed the door and turned to face the kitchen. Where a very beautiful one year old girl with a bottle of milk in her hands ran to me and called me mom. I don't have a daught and despite her cuteness she was the wrong ethnicity so couldn't be mine and dh. I grabbed her hand and took her to the living room, thinking I may have guest I forgotten about sitting there. But no only my ds and dh there. So I tell dh this girl wants her mother can you please take her home? Dh gets very angry with me and shouts very loudly at me and get extremely emotional saying how dare you say that to your own daughter, where the boys can hear you.

Ps dh is not the shouting kind, he is leave the house when angry type and has never shouted at me in real life. But has at times left mid argument.

Last night I dreamed I'd been given a Harry Potter themed Christmas card by a friend I had at primary school. Confused

CopONNotLinkedIn · 28/05/2018 07:47

.

yawning801 · 28/05/2018 07:49

OK. This one's a bit disturbing, so if you are easily upset, skip through...

First of all, to put this out there, I am not pregnant, do not want to be pregnant, and never have been pregnant! But last night I had a dream that I gave birth to three babies. I was in my old school, on one of the corridors, and I knocked on the door of my old favourite teacher to ask for a key to unlock the spare room. She wasn't in there, and the next thing I know I'm in my mum's bedroom. In one of her drawers is the first "baby", who is a small child with a tin of spaghetti hoops. Talk about random! The third baby is in the drawer on the other side and I can't remember anything else about that one. But the second... it was "split". I don't know what that means, but thats what I thought. My dad got the Sellotape out on it, then I woke up.

Bloody hell, that is weird isn't it! Here is your challenge: interpret that!

stillnotbored · 28/05/2018 07:50

I had a ridiculous dream that some people thought dreams could be interpreted and could mean something.

It's stupid I know but do you think it could mean anything?

VogueVVague · 28/05/2018 07:51

@Earthmoon
I think this is about care. Do you have trouble letting others in to help you when you need it (neighbour cleaning for you)? Also about care and nurturing - the little girl with the milk I think might be yourself. Your childlike side, your vulnerable side. She (you) wants to be nurtured and cared for (milk). You recognise theres something very lovely about this inner essence of yourself (shes beautiful) but you're avoiding it, putting distance between yourself and this deeper part of you (you changed her ethnicity).
Could your DP be frustrated that you are denying care to yourself/not being true to the person he knows you to be?

I have a recurring dream about tidal waves. Sometimes I'm in a city and I manage to escape the wave by going down a winding path, and I see the tidal wave go past. Other times I see the tidal wave coming through the window if a house or office, but no one else seems worried or to have seen it. I always survive it.

jemmstar1980 · 28/05/2018 07:55

I have a reoccurring nightmare every few months that a burglar climbs in from my bedroom window and stands next to me (I can see myself asleep in bed). No idea how they managed to open the window though.

I normally wake up screaming at that point.

monkeymamma · 28/05/2018 08:00

Stillnot, some clearly do indicate what’s on the dreamer’s mind. No one here has claimed they can predict the future. Obvs some are just random gibberish but not all!

I have the toilet one OFTEN! Always desperate for a wee when I wake 😁

Candlelight, I have that one too. Sometimes though, I dream of my childhood home instead and feel very happy in the dream (bittersweet when I wake though).

Many years ago I had an ex who was EA with many issues. Leaving the relationship was very difficult. I still sometimes dream that (inexplicably!) we’ve got back together and of course that’s pretty awful. Sometimes I will dream that my real partner (who is lovely and nothing like ex whatsoever) is actually him and then wake up fretting about supposed similarities between them (there are none!).

I also dream in a number of ‘locations’ (a particle town for example) that are made up, or perhaps remembered from long ago. I don’t recognise them from RL but have revisited them many times in dreams. Some are now very familiar and I could almost map out the layout etc!

Tisfortired · 28/05/2018 08:02

I had a dream that I was a bridesmaid at one of my best friends weddings, and when it came to putting my dress on (she had let us all choose our own dresses) it was white and looked like a wedding dress.

I was so panicked about wearing a white wedding dress at her wedding (I think in my dream I had thought it was blue when I had bought it) that I rushed home and got a different old dress from my wardrobe and felt horrible and grumpy and rubbish for the rest of the day while everybody else looked beautiful and relaxed.

Quite boring really!

branchline · 28/05/2018 08:03

I had a dream last night that I saved a woman from a violent attack when I was walking through an underpass. It was late at night. The police came and thanked me for assisting her and off I went home.
Back home I was in bed with my children all snuggled up and there was this beautiful white cat in bed with us.
I had to stop the children from squashing it. It was frustrating because the kids didn't seem to think it was a problem.
Anyway, then the door bell goes and it's the lady from the underpass asking me to give her some counselling flowing the attack. I'm a bit bemused as to the request and feel torn because I need to get back to stopping the kids squashing the cat.
Then I woke up.

Polkadot1974 · 28/05/2018 08:07

The teeth dream here too. I end up trying to fit the pieces of the jagged broken teeth back into the gums but they keep falling out or I end up spitting mouthfuls of broken shards of tooth into my hands

The recurring one I have is about our current house but in it we have a big garden and there’s another house in it which we don’t live in but each time I go in I discover something new about it like it’s hot beautiful views or loads of bedrooms (we don’t!). Or I dream about having a much bigger house but in the dream it’s a mash up of old houses from friends/ holiday cottages etc. I have a lot of very vivid dreams!

rabbitmat · 28/05/2018 08:10

I had a disturbing dream that I ran over some puppies on my bike. At least one was dead and another near death. I was frozen not knowing what to do. Then I woke up.

LittleLionMansMummy · 28/05/2018 08:15

I've had the toilet dream many times throughout my life. I also have a dream in which my teeth keep falling out. I always wake up so relieved from that one!

I dreamed on Saturday night that I discovered my dh was having an affair. It was horrible! It's because my dsis is splitting up from her h, prompted by an affair and we also met a friend on Saturday who told us she too is breaking up with hers. Children involved in both, so it must have got me thinking.

Stillnot it's widely understood that dreaming is your brain's method of processing rationalising your thoughts and feelings regarding things you don't have time to rationalise during the day. Thus, it is often relatively easy to see what has prompted them, particularly if you're going through an unsettling time.

trulybadlydeeply · 28/05/2018 08:15

I had a dream the other day (it's recurred throughout my liife) that I am in an unknown house, either one i am living in at that time, or one I am looking to buy, and the door frames are all extremely low, so low that you have to crawl through them. The last dream my DC were in the bedroom and I could barely squeeze through the small opening to get to them. I always wake up feeling disturbed.

SerenDippitty · 28/05/2018 08:22

Could the wave represent an emotion or feeling you are avoiding acknowledging?

LidlAngel · 28/05/2018 08:24

I had a dream I was sat at a table with my boyfriend. It was a Formica trestle sort of table and the whole room felt quite 'institutional' like a hospital, or a community centre. He was crying, like really crying. Utterly inconsolable. He couldn't get the words out to tell me what was wrong and I felt powerless to help him, so I just put my arm around him and just cried with him. Woke up really upset.....

Ginger1982 · 28/05/2018 08:24

I dreamt last night I had got 2 tattoos and was regretting them due to what my mum would say...

Nishky · 28/05/2018 08:26

I have a recurring dream about a house I lived in which was I. A real state of disrepair- and very dark and gloomy. It is really weird because sometimes when I’m awake I think the house is real and I did live there.

I have lived in a number of houses in the area I dream about but not that one.

The80sweregreat · 28/05/2018 08:28

I dreamt someone gave me some money -but I gave it back!
I have weird dreams.

Nishky · 28/05/2018 08:29

Ooh. I googled it.

o see an old, run-down house in your dream represents your old beliefs, attitudes and how you used to think or feel. A situation in your current life may be bringing about those same old attitudes and feelings. Alternatively, the old house may symbolize your need to update you mode of thinking. If you see messy and/or dilapidated houses in your dream, then it implies that an aspect of your own life is in chaos. You may be suffering from some emotional or psychological clutter. You need to release these feelings in order to regain control. To dream that your house is damaged indicates your waking concerns about the condition of your house.

Thanks for starting the thread op. That is really interesting
