To think she’s faking?

Appleofmypie · 27/05/2018 14:34

One of my team at work is 14 weeks pregnant. She’s been off sick for 5 weeks with severe hyperemesis and still has a week left on her sick note (she’s being signed off for 2 weeks at a time)

By complete coincidence she is Facebook friends with a friend of mine.

My friend has put some pictures on Facebook this morning of her Greek holiday she’s still on, and my work colleague is in most of them - sunbathing, eating, swimming in the sea, playing volleyball. She has obviously blocked me as she is tagged in the pictures but her name is unclickable.

I’m gonna sound like a complete cow but I think she’s faking her sickness.
She’s on full pay from work and we’re having to pay an agency temp to cover her work too. It’s a small company that is struggling and I doubt we’re going to make any profit this month due to this.

My questions are:

Should I tell/show our boss?
What evidence of hyperemesis does a GP need to see to sign you off or Could it just be on her say so?
Is she actually doing anything illegal?
I know that pregnancy sickness is covered separately to normal in terms of disciplinary but if it’s proven she’s faking could it still be gross misconduct?

Thanks

She handed in a 4 week sick note ...... and her resignation!

Probably the best thing all round; she must have known she was on very shaky ground and probably wanted to avoid a disciplinary/sacking on her record

I know it's infuriating to perhaps feel she's "got away with it", but look on the bright side ... at least you're rid of her Smile

TheMerryWidow1 · 04/06/2018 16:32

aaah she knows she has been caught out, otherwise why resign? No maternity leave now.

dinosaurkisses · 04/06/2018 16:32

OOooh!

Probably the best outcome for your boss though- saves her the trouble (and cost) if conducting an investigation etc etc.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 04/06/2018 16:34

Bet she's seen this thread.

FizzyGreenWater · 04/06/2018 16:35

What a little chancer.

I bet she's seen this Grin

Good riddance!

DarlingNikita · 04/06/2018 16:35

Fuck. She was totally trying it on and she knows she's been caught out.

Good riddance.

moofeatures · 04/06/2018 16:37

Hasn't she shot herself in the foot re. mat pay... unless there's a plot twist and she had a new job lined up all along?

Tistheseason17 · 04/06/2018 16:37

If I was her boss, I'd be chuffed with this outcome

whatwouldbe · 04/06/2018 16:39

haha. good riddance. saves your boss a lot of headache. CF probably know she featured on MN Grin

ajandjjmum · 04/06/2018 16:40

Best solution all round.

GladAllOver · 04/06/2018 16:41

That's good news for the boss - saves a lot of trouble and expense getting rid of her.
And it leaves the place clear for the temp who was interested in the job. I'm sure she will not be about to pull any similar tricks :)

A big WELL DONE to the OP.

LexieLulu · 04/06/2018 16:42

Has she posted on her fb? Prob slagging off the firm like nuts

20brilliantcolours · 04/06/2018 16:43

Ha!

CornishMaid1 · 04/06/2018 16:46

For her CFery, I'd want to find a way to not even pay her the sick leave for her 4 weeks notice. I can't believe the doctor signed her off for another 4 weeks!

Good riddance I say.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/06/2018 16:47

She must've known the boss was on to her and jumped before she was pushed. I bet your boss is pleased - totally solves a problem for her

lostinsunshine · 04/06/2018 16:59

Hurray!

Appleofmypie · 04/06/2018 17:00

@cornishmaid1

She’s been signed off for 4 weeks with hyperemesis again - I’ve seen the note. I genuinely can’t believe the gp has done it - it’s quite obvious she doesn’t have it.

I’m wondering if, like a pp said, that it’s just a repeat sicknote (if there is such a thing) and that she didn’t even actually see the gp, and just picked it up from the reception.

Anyway, boss is really happy as it’s one less thing for her to stress about.

Op, that is now Someone Else's Problem. If she wants to connive and manipulate her way through life, it will eventually bite her on the arse.

Blobby10 · 04/06/2018 17:14

Apple please please make sure your boss (and you) have EVERYTHING written down in reports. What was said, by whom, when, who was there etc.

I work in a small business too and a few years ago we had an employee try to sue us claiming his work caused him long term injury. it didn't. But the huge workload we had just proving ourselves innocent put incredible strain on us all. The crux of the case was " she (ie me, his boss) should have asked him why he went to the doctor twice in four months" My response was "but its none of my business - I wouldn't expect him to tell me and wouldn't ask anyone to divulge such a personal matter" Fortunately it never got to tribunal and his solicitor (no win no fee firm) agreed there was no case.

But we did learn the hard way that anything like this needs reports of the most seemingly innocuous conversations and meetings before you forget what was said. Sad but true.

BewareOfDragons · 04/06/2018 17:21

Was she tan?

She's full of shit and she knows it. Shame she'll still get sick pay for 4 weeks; the lying cow certainly doesn't deserve it.

Perhaps she's seen the news stories about this thread... she surely knows the boss was on to her even if she hasn't due to the FB request.

TittyGolightly · 04/06/2018 17:30

Hasn't she shot herself in the foot re. mat pay...

Probably only a bit.

Carycach100 · 04/06/2018 17:31

Really? If this is real she must be a complete idiot!! She is covered by sick notes to 19 weeks and she could have started her ML in another 10 weeks after that- probably much less with accrued holiday.
There is no way the employer could have disciplined her (without ending up in a tribunal) for being off sick when she was vcovered by a sick note especially whilst pregnant.

dinosaurkisses · 04/06/2018 17:31

“Was she tan?”

Please answer this OP

😂😂😂

dinosaurkisses · 04/06/2018 17:34

“There is no way the employer could have disciplined her”

Not true- the employer must be more careful to avoid an accusation of discrimination, but pregnancy isn’t a Get Out Of Jail Free card that can be used to defraud the business.

Dancingmonkey87 · 04/06/2018 17:37

I didn’t agree with what you done and you continued to be quite smug, actually I think you’ve enjoyed every minute of this by updating the fact she put her resignation in.

That been said this thread is extremely identifiable and it wouldn’t take a genuis to know it was about her it maybe she goes to tribunal and cites yourself for trouble causing if you have any sense you would get this thread deleted.
