How much drink is too much?

Can someone please tell me how much drink is considered too much in a week? My partner can drink a bottle of wine a night by himself, more on the w/e. Am I being crazy to think this is too much?? I am not British nor am I a drinker so dh says I don't understand and it is perfectly normal.

14 units for a woman over a week is the recommended amount I think. Men can have more.

That's the tricky bit. I think there are about 5 or 6 units in a bottle of wine. I don't know anyone who actually counts. A bottle of wine a night, every night is probably too much.

A bottle of wine a night and more at the weekend isn't much?! Or 14 units isn't much?

What about the argument about storing up all your units for a blowout weekend? Is that more harmful than spreading it our over the week?

It's meant to be more harmful to have one big blow out than to have drinks over the week.

No, he drinks pretty steadily across the week. My SIL though stores up her units and binges on the w/e--though is trying to get pregnant.

hunker - meant 14 units wasn't much - so more than a couple of glasses and you are a binge drinker!

14 units does seem like a tiny amount...I definitely drink more than that, but spread out over the day/evening,( I am living in France...), and DH does too, but we console ourselves with the fact that it is red wine=good for you

I thought today's bottles of wine (about 12/13 % proof) contained about 9 units per bottle.

14 units a WEEK for a woman - there is 9 units in ONE bottle of wine.

21 units for a man.
