To paint my entire house in one colour?

I'm thinking white. Everywhere. Gloss too. Is this really dull and will I regret not picking individual colours for different rooms?

Has anyone else done it and had loved the results?

I’ve got jasmine white in all rooms except our hall. I like it. But appreciate it's probably seen as bland but I love it.

Yep , white nearly everywhere
We have a sail white wall in the master bedroom ( ie , off white with a hint of grey )
Kitchen = white
Dining room = white
Sitting room = white
Lots of colour elsewhere ( red clay floor tiles , pictures on walls etc )

It's also great if you need to touch up paintwork ( I do mine annually, round light switched etc) as you only have to use one pot of paint. I much prefer it to a different bright colour in each room, which feels disjointed and rather disconcerting.

Our whole house was pale yellow for a while. We're now gradually colouring it more

Great to hear! Has anyone used just bog standard trade white? Trying to keep the costs down but get a good result.

I have white everywhere - matt though not gloss, I find gloss can look a little plastic and cheap looking (just my opinion though)

I'd recommend going to screwfix, they do a dulux offer for two bog standard white paints for I think around £35 - we bought cheap trade one but it takes wayyyy too many coats so I wouldn't recommend it. We used around a tub and a half of the huge ones for the whole house 😊

So what do you put on your window sills, radiators, doors and skirting boards? Is it different paint to what goes on the walls? (Is it obvious I've never done this before )

We painted everywhere white, and now are slowly repainting in different colours as we find it boring

My whole house is Dulux Natural Calico walls with white ceilings and woodwork and I love it. We only need one pot for touch-ups!

I've got magnolia downstairs and antique gold upstairs.

When we moved in to our house a few years ago we just wanted a blank slate so did every wall in every room 'brilliant white'. B&Q always has offers on the MASSIVE tubs of white paint, normally a cheaper brand than Dulux, but it did the trick for us.
Did matte white on all the walls and white gloss on all the skirting boards
Makes the house look really fresh and spacious and is very easy to touch up dirty marks etc

White throughout here except for the kitchen, which is a creamy pale yellow. I love it. Looks bright and clean and my furnishings are colourful so it doesn't look boring, in my opinion anyway

All white is just lovely. Go for it. However please only use gloss on windowsills, door frames etc. And even then I’d suggest egg shell instead. Gloss is horrendously difficult to do well. Or at least it was. Big tubs of trade white matt and job’s a good ‘un!

Yep, I have white everywhere and I love it. Having said that, I painted the whole house three years ago and it all needs painting again now.

I used Dulux brilliant white, which was by far the best of all the basic ones. Crown is much less good and Wickes is totally useless.

We're in the process of decorating and are creating a blank canvas by painting all walls in Dulux Orchid White.

The previous owners had a very individual approach to wall colours. The lounge is a dark mustard yellow with gold dado rail, the hall was dark green (now white, awaiting a top coat of Orchid White), the kitchen is navy blue and diarrhoeabrown and DDs room was dark purple including the skirting board, windowsill and radiator and gold.

DDs room is now Orchid White and looks amazing (new carpet & radiator helped too). It's so bright, warm and fresh looking. Its pretty much the only room in the house that I love but I know once the others are neutralised they will all look great too!!

I have every thing white, walls bedlinen etc. Little pops of colour and plants here and there. Lots of texture. So for example bedroom white walls, floor stained white and sanded back to show texture of the grain, very bobbly white throw on bed, coarse linen curtains.

I’ve been house-hunting and and all-white house is a complete turn-off for me. I can understand it in a small property but if I see acres of off-white in a bog-standard semi I just swipe past.

I know I’m in the minority and that it’s a very popular look atm.

My whole house is the same off-white and has been for nearly 30 years. I’ve also got the same carpet throughout. Each room feels a different colour because i’ve got different coloured accessories eg blue curtains, cushions and duvet in bedroom; green rug and sofas in sitting room; orange shower curtain and mat in bathroom.

I’ve never got bored because I just change curtains or cushions and it looks like i’ve changed the whole colour scheme including repainting.
I also thinks it makes my home look bigger because the spaces flow into each other.
And as people say it’s so cheap and easy to repaint because you only need the one paint.

I used Wilkinsons own brand vinyl matt on the walls. Its made by Berger and good quality.
Do all your preparation first; scrub the wallpaper and paste off the walls and fill any holes. Sand the woodwork back to the wood.

On the walls and ceilings, you water down the first coat of emulsion if its on bare plaster and it takes 3 or 4 coats for a good finish.

On the woodwork use water based primer, followed by water based fast drying gloss.

Some F and B warm White whose name escapes me throughout. A little house I had years ago, I left all the walls unpainted, because I loved the colour of the plaster.

I hate different-coloured rooms and matchyness.

Yes, you do white matt paint (trade, from Screwfix) on all walls and white gloss on windowsills/doorframes, etc. We have white everywhere and LOVE it. It's not boring at all. Magnolia is boring 🤢. Go all white and add huge splashes of colour with your furniture/curtains/art.
