Ring stuck on finger!

Earlier this evening I was a fool and rammed on my sister's gorgeous new ring on my middle finger. 5 hours later it is well and truly stuck! We've tried every conceivable method, which has only shredded my finger (do not recommend the dental floss technique) and made my finger swell to about 4 times its natural size. I really want to avoid going to A&E due to embarrassment and inconvenience. AIBU to ask for any methods I may have overlooked.

I think it was cling film and olive oil that did it in the end with the elastic wrapping method.
But seriously go to hospital if you need to.
They may be able to help without cutting it off

After a bad bout of arthritis I had my wedding band and engagement rings both cut off after every method failed and the metal had started to cut into the skin. The relief was immense, and the engagement ring in particular had huge sentimental value.

Get thee to the bloody hospital now, if it was my sister I'd be taking her there myself not using it as a catalyst for a stick to beat her with ffs. Tell her you've spoke to 111 (otherwise known as MN ) and they've said you have to get it removed as the risk to your finger is dangerous.

Or actually sod it, you'd just get more blackmail. Tell her eff all and just get it done. Now. She can sulk all she likes after your finger is saved.

And why does it matter anyway because for aslong as it's stuck on your finger she can't wear it anyway

Go to the hospital.

1. Put haemorrhoid cream on your finger to reduce swelling.
2. Take ibuprofen to reduce swelling swelling.
3. While you’re waiting to be seen keep your hand above your head so what blood can drain out does so.
4. Be holding an ice pack/bag of frozen peas wrapped in a dishcloth to reduce swelling (but putting the ice directly against your finger skin could cause it to swell).

1. Take a roll of dental floss and wrap around the finger as in the video- you are literally making your finger smaller.

1. Lube up with Vaseline and give the floss a final go.

1. Cut the ring off and keep your finger or cut the finger off and keep the ring. Your choice.

Oh please tell me you’ve got the ring off somehow; I got one stuck on my finger when I was at school. I didn’t tell anybody and my dad cut it off when I got home - it was only on for a few hours but it really hurt. I hope you’re ok OP.

It was extremely painful when I did it and I went to hospital as soon as my parents realised the home solutions weren't working.

OP - Please tell me you have got it cut off? You said your finger was numb and swollen last night so really no excuse to not go to A&E immediately. What was your sister thinking stopping you?

I really hope you've gone to the hospital and not had to have your finger amputated. Your sister is being ridiculous. No matter the sentimental value, surely her sister's finger is worth more.
