Ring stuck on finger!

Earlier this evening I was a fool and rammed on my sister's gorgeous new ring on my middle finger. 5 hours later it is well and truly stuck! We've tried every conceivable method, which has only shredded my finger (do not recommend the dental floss technique) and made my finger swell to about 4 times its natural size. I really want to avoid going to A&E due to embarrassment and inconvenience. AIBU to ask for any methods I may have overlooked.

OP, you need either to go to A & E or to the local fire station to have the ring cut off.

You may need to get it cut off, this happened to my Mum and it got dangerous where her finger was getting its circulation cut off.

I got a ring stuck on as a child and needed it to be cut off at A&E. You cannot wait you may lose your finger. The ring I had put on broke several of the ring cutters. Your sister sound unkind to have left you like that.

Everyone makes stupid mistakes/errors of judgement.

Maybe your sister would like the ring back in presentation box complete with your amputated finger!

Go to A&E or use wire cutters at home if need be to relieve the pressure.

If not, just tell her you managed to get it off and provide a replacement (that she never discovers is a replacement)

Hope you’ve managed to get it off and your sister is cutting you some slack. It’s not like you meant to do it. If you don’t want to go to A&E (though it sounds like you really should) so you have a minor injuries unit close by?

It may be a special ring, but we are talking about a part of your body potentially being lost.
