A lot of my FB friends have this and a lot of families I work with.

Is it a new (ish) illness and if not what was it beforehand.

Do we know what causes it.

TIA

@MmeButtox I have an open-ended 'in' with the neurologist for if/when things change.

How did it come about you finally getting an MS diagnosis?

MmeButtox · 25/05/2018 11:09

Can I pm you? It's a bit of a messy story ...

As I said upthread, I have ms. I don't feel remotely dismissed by the comparison between ms and fm. I am lucky, in that I have rr ms, and I'm very aware of Primary Progressive and how different it is - when I first realised that ms was what my symptoms were pointing at the first person I thought of was Jacqueline du Pres, I expected to find myself in a wheelchair in 2 years and dead in 5.

I still see a huge overlap in symptoms, and there is definitely, imo, a familial relationship.

I am not insulted by people thinking about these issues and discussing them.

Re Pregnancy. My first symptoms happened within weeks of becoming pg, and just got worse and worse throughout, until just 2 weeks before birth, and maybe for 2 weeks after when I felt healthy and normal. Then they continued to increase and worsen over 3 years. I was dx when dd was just about 3 yo. I have stabilised enough that I got a pt job a couple of years ago. This attack and recovery has taken pretty well all of dd's life - she is 18 now.

Thanks Kate. It’s been a while since I looked at this website. I’ve signed up to get news as well.
