To think this is a fantastic response to an Ad asking Artists to do things for the "Exposure"?

As someone who in the creative industry (and uses any monetary gain to pay the bills and buy essentials) this really gets my goat.

Why is it that artists are always asked to do these things for free, for the "exposure"? At least once a month I get a message asking for a free design which will be promoted on someones fucking terrible blog or instagram.

Exposure isn't going to feed my kids, thanks Hmm

Remember, exposure is what kills you when you can’t afford to pay rent.

Countless Ablaze is a yarn dyer, her motto is ‘if I want exposure, I’ll get my tits out’ after being asked for a load of freebies!

In their Camden Store though, if they gave you rights to say I've done work for Sainsbury's, surely that would be a positive on your CV.

CF who has minimal following on SM asking for a free whatever in return for exposure, I'd say no, sorry not much chance of a return.

But Sainsbury's is a big corporation. I guess a deal breaker for me would be are they supplying materials.

Conversely, sainsburys is a big corporation they can afford to pay artists for this kind of work. And get some positive PR for themselves by making it known they support artists.
Or to hide their CFuckery they would run it as a competition.

Yes, with the means to actually pay people for the work they want them to do. The fact they want freebies from people is disgusting.

Incarnationsofunderstanding · 24/05/2018 00:30

That’s really terrible of a large corporate, tweet HQ bet they wouldn’t be too approving!
