to ask if you too have a small podge when you are seated?

It's my main area of issue. I hate it. I have a podgey bump when I'm seated. When I;m stood my stomach is practically flat with a small bulge.

My podge seems to be above my knicker line when seated.

Please tell me it's normal?

I've got a slim build and had three kids and the podge is there when I sit down. Also similar are, it is a little shelf all on its own.
I'm sure toning the stomach up with exercise could help but I try to remember that there are a lot of organs inside behind that podge and if there was nothing it would be very worrying!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/05/2018 15:32

Nooooo I meant that I have a beer belly! Even when I was very skinny it is perfectly natural to have a wee bugle when you sit.

Pfftlife · 23/05/2018 15:33

Try bigger knickers then your wee podge will be below the knickers line Grin you'll see everyone on holiday with different sized podges

MrsDilber · 23/05/2018 15:33

I have a large podge. 😂

cjt110 · 23/05/2018 15:33

Sorry - my mistake and heckles at reading your post Blush

I should put complete thoughts down but I was typing and wolfing down a quick lunch.

PerkingFaintly · 23/05/2018 15:35

a wee bugle when you sit

Now that's another worry altogether...

cjt110 · 23/05/2018 15:36

Pfftlife Grin

I've got saggy boobs, nobbly skin and scars but my stomach gets me down

I'd be a bit cross if some fucker bugled every time I sat down! Grin

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/05/2018 15:40

Yes. I'm a size 6 and mostly muscle and still have a little roll on my lower abdomen when I sit or bend. Most people carry some fat in that area, it's normal. If you're self-conscious in a bikini, try a vintage-style high-waisted tankini and trunks style (very fashionable right now) or a floaty sarong to wear when not in the sea/pool.

FriendlyOcelot · 23/05/2018 15:40

I’m 5’9, weigh less than 9 stone and have a 25” waist and still have a podge when I sit down. My stomach is one of my better features too (was exceedingly flat bc dcs but now I’m a middle aged mum, somewhat less so!)

What I’m trying to say is, if I’ve got one then so have most people... I hope that makes you feel better op!

formerbabe · 23/05/2018 15:41

Hate threads like this. You're a grown woman fgs...yes, of course it's normal. Sorry but it's so irritating. Reminds me of the angsty girls I went to school with who'd pinch an inch of skin and whinge about being fat when they weren't.

FriendlyOcelot · 23/05/2018 15:41

Oh yes, and I’ve got toned abs too --this is not the stealth boast it is starting to sound like--

kateandme · 23/05/2018 15:41

the images you see have been photoshopped hun.
its your skin and how things scrum together when folded and completely beautifully normal.
so It means your gorgeous because your human shaped.
remember if you say you tummy is your issue then no matter what it shaped it will im guessing always feel like there is something wrong with it.so try and keep reminding yourself of that. that its "thoughts not facts" and its your insecure spot but that ok it just mean you need to be extra kinder to yourself on this point and not believe all you devil mind tell you on it.

cjt110 · 23/05/2018 15:42

FriendlyOcelot It does. All of your replies really do make me fell better.

Comtesse Good suggestion. I have some high waisted bikini bottoms that come to an acceptable height. I hadn't thought of a sarong.

formerbabe Apologies for offending you sooooo much. You didnt need to read the post and comment if you didnt want to. You could happily have moved on.

I have huge insecurities, including about my stomach, and I wanted to see/show others, that it's normal.

And for what it's worth, I am classed as obese and yes, I am fat. I was looking for some confidence boosting and you've just shot it to pieces. Now DFO if you have nothing nice to say.

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/05/2018 15:45

But to be honest, please really don't worry about how you look in a bikini - just relax and enjoy your holiday. I have never looked at a woman on the beach (I don't ogle women often, you understand) and thought, "ooh, she's a bit pudgy" or the like - sometimes I might notice a really nice pair of boobs or some enviable legs or a really pretty bikini etc on a woman of any size but I really don't think other people scrutinise their fellow beach-goers (if only, sadly, because they're probably too busy worrying about their own body hang-ups.)

cjt110 · 23/05/2018 15:45

kateandme That is a very kindly worded post. I like it. Thank you.

cjt110 · 23/05/2018 15:46

It would be lovely if we didnt have those hung ups wouldn't it ComtesseDeSpair

halfwitpicker · 23/05/2018 15:49

Everyone has a podge.

formerbabe · 23/05/2018 15:50

I haven't commented on you personally. I have no idea what you look like or what you weigh. Surely you can glance round and look at other women when you're out and about to realise it's perfectly normal?

cjt110 · 23/05/2018 15:52

formerbabe So why comment with such a mean hearted post? I dont make a habit of staring at people's stomachs when they're sat down.

I may be an adult but I'm allowed to seek reassurance from others about things I don't feel so great about. As I say, if you don't like this thread, feel free to move along.

If had it my entire life. Even as a slim size 8 teenager I had a big belly not sure why, a lot of friends at that time had super flat washboard stomachs.

It’s worse now after DC and csection. It’s like belly then a pouch. Hate it. But always had it!
