I reported someone

I reported my neighbour for animal neglect and I don’t know whether to confess or keep my mouth shut.

Should I play dumb and say I didn’t mean to get them in trouble, I just didn’t know who else to call and the animal seemed distressed? Or keep quiet? It’s a communal close, but I’m worried he’ll know it was me, even though they said they keep it confidential. He will wonder how they knew what door to to put the card through, and I don’t know that many others in he building could pinpoint him as the owner, though a few of us have been chatting and some could.

I know I did the right thing, but I wish I had just asked them to check the animal, and not opened my mouth with specifics Sad

I don’t need him as an enemy.

You had a duty of care toward a defencless animal. You fulfilled it. What you do next is irrelevant so if to keep yourself safer you deny it, fair enough.

Say nothing OP. You are overthinking.

You did the right thing.

Definitely keep your mouth shut. Deny, deny, deny if he approaches you. You just never know how nutters like that will act.

I was just reading some posts on a local Facebook page. Apparently there was some sort of major disturbance last night (no one knows what it was, but this sort of thing is an extremely unusual occurrence for this area, hence all the posts). Anyway, the person who called the police admitted on Facebook that it was them. I know this person and good on them for calling the police, but I can't believe they were so stupid as to admit this publicly. As another poster pointed out, you don't know who is reading these pages and may decide to take retribution.

Play dumb.

You know you did the right thing for the animal and that is what counts.

Fine, but only because a few of us have been feeding it.

it what is it? a dog, cat horse? you are talking about living in a block of flats, so how are you feeding it ? where is it kept?

I know it's early and I'm quite likely having a thick moment but Im not following this at all.
