So, 'You're Gorgeous" (Babybird) was on the radio today in the car. Naturally, I turned it up.
Was singing along, (dc in back) and it struck me that it's actually a very creepy song and not a happy 90s pop tune.. got me thinking, what other songs that were acceptable back in the day probably wouldn't make the cut today?

The 80s song, 'I touch myself', comes to mind... lol

There was a cringey trail on the BBC for a spin-off of the Holiday programme with Jill Dando walking along dressed as a flight attendant smiling with You're Gorgeous as the the sound track. I thought wtaf are you thinking BBC?!

The Larrs There She Goes was about the effects of heroine, so not too keen on that, even though it's annoying catchy.

Also my DH refuses to listen to Mr Brightside by The Killers because he found out that the track was apparently about paedophilia. That was something I must admit I didn't know until he told me.

"Every Breath You Take" was about a control freak/stalker. I once read an interview with Sting who said he couldn't believe the number of people who didn't listen to the lyrics and thought it was a love song even having it at their wedding etc.

I thought that Sting had written it when his wife walked out, and he was so angry and this was how he felt about it. Totally creepy song, I thought wtf? the first time I heard it, and I was only a teen.

About a year later he released 'If you love somebody set them free' which was how he felt once he had worked through the divorce. One of my favourite songs ever.

Chantilly lace was The Big Bopper, not Jerry Lee Lewis. Although he was creepy AF too
