Children and a good OH are of course great so if you have them you should be pretty happy.

Having a bit of a crap father but the two best stepfathers you could imagine. They go above and beyond what any father would do and support me so much. My mother is also truly one of those mothers everyone wishes they had.

Meeting a man (my husband) who has ambition and drive and has shown me so much of the world, without meeting such a person I think I would've settled for a very boring existence, as it is I'm currently preparing to move abroad again and have many more adventures!

My parents are fabulous - clever, funny, loving and incredibly supportive. Ultimately pretty much everything good in my life has happened directly or indirectly because of them and everything bad has been bearable because of them.

Getting into Cambridge was pretty good too. I had a wonderful three years there and got a great job out of it where I met dh.

finding people and places with whom/where being myself wasn't a problem and was sometimes even a positive. where my negative experiences aren't moderated out of existence because they make people uncomfortable.

Going to comic con this year as I met a great guy and have a social life again after 17 years.

We have 3 kids, two have been Oncology (cancer) patients. Our 2nd child (who seemed to be very happy and in rude good health up until then) was diagnosed at 8 months old with a very rare blood disorder which is not leukemia but behaves like a cancer. She was treated with chemo and given the all clear at 3. She is now 15.

Our 11 yr old son was suddenly diagnosed with an extremely rare lymphoma last November (less than 100 cases ever worldwide) , they operated immediately and so far he seems to be in complete remission with no need for chemo.

So my greatest thing is that they are both still here and healthy.

My MN birth group, who are the most fantastic, inspiring and supportive group of women I know. They are there, everyday, both online and in real life and they make everything better, easier and more fun. Am so grateful to have found them!

Earthmoon · 20/05/2018 23:04

My mother.

wonderstuff · 20/05/2018 23:09

I think that being born in the UK to great parents is the best thing. And being born in the late 20th century, my great grandmother had 5 children in a back to back slum. I am so grateful for contraceptive, a washing machine and being able to go out to work.

Meeting my best friend at 4 years old. Through her I experienced what a good family is and had a template for when I had my own. She is still in my life 40 years later! She is a really wonderful person.

My parents. The most wonderful supportive people and I love them dearly

@Username9876547

I don’t think you should feel sad. I think a lot of these ‘bests’ come from people who had to overcome something horrible or escape bad circumstances.

Hopefully it means you’ve had a happy life with a caring family and no terrible discomfort which is great.
