To hope Doria is included in more royal occasions

I thought she was so beautiful, dignified..... and alone. I know it was Meghan's (understandable) decision to not include her immediate family, just a gaggle of friends and A.listers
However Doria was so gracious. I know it's not protocol, but it would be lovely if she was invited to sandringham for Christmas and Charles and Camilla took her under their wing. I just wanted to reach into the TV and give her a hug.

You aren’t really alone at a wedding - especially if you are close family. There’s loads to do and everyone wants to talk to you.

Doria is a beautiful name though. That's what I'm taking from this!

I don't know why people feel so uncomfortable about women attending events alone.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 20/05/2018 09:18

Not just a woman - we all know how it feels to be at an event where you hardly know anyone and feel a bit out of place.

I'm sure she'll pop up at the 2 or three christening that will happen shortly.

She's got her own life, I wouldn't want to spend my time with Charles and Camilla, dithering and being all Royal. I love the RF but wouldn't want to live with them.

Hiding this along with the 'blown away by the love looks' thread. Bleurgh. In fact Im staying off the RF threads until this love fest has blown over and the detest for them returns.

It's women that people feel should have someone 'take them under their wing' though.

Never men.

There's a famous scene in Shirley Valentine about how uncomfortable everyone is with a woman on holiday alone and everyone sighs with relief when an annoying couple 'take her under their wing' and insist she dines with them.

MN frequently has threads asking if female posters would go to a pub/restaurant/cinema on their own. With many saying no they wouldn't.

Why are people saying she'll move to the UK? She has her own life in California.

expatinscotland · 20/05/2018 10:22

'why was she on her own? I know about Meghan’s father being unwell, but has her mother not got a sibling or another family member? Or even a close friend? It just seemed almost cruel her being there totally on her own.'

Maybe she wanted to be! Imagine that! Maybe she's comfortable in her own skin and with her own company and doesn't need to have a +1 there just for the sake of it. What's so bad about that? Why is it cruel?FFS.

She managed last Christmas without Meghan who was at Balmoral and I saw somewhere Meghan had also spent a Christmas with the Mulroney family.
