What would you think about being invited to a 'bring your own booze' christening?

We would obviously provide some basics and food but there's no bar in the church hall... DH thinks it's chavvy but I think it's better than having to traipse across town to a function room.

Any thoughts?

It's a party, a celebration. They usually come with alcohol. What rock do you people live under that this is a surprise of any kind?

I agree on BYOB aspect, I booked a function room after (one with a bar)

Well, if the hall is near a supermarket, people can just pop in there between the ceremony and the party, surely.
